ROBBING PETER TO PAY PAUL STARTED AS AN ISSUE TO  REFORM  CATHOLIC CHURCH TAXES AND TITHES

BUT, ENDED UP WITH MARTIN LUTHER’S PROTESTANT REFORMATION

THE WORLD WOULD BE FOREVER TRANSFORMED.

    —————————————————————————–

Historians usually date the start of the PROTESTANT REFORMATION to the  publication of  95 Theses written in 1517 by Martin Luther, professor of moral theology at the University of Wittenberg

THE FIRST BOOKS GUTENBERG PRINTED WITH HIS PRESS WERE COPIES OF THE BIBLE.

    ———————————————————-

    The Protestant Reformation

Gutenberg’s printing press “meant more access to information, more dissent, more informed discussion and more widespread criticism of authorities,” observes the British Library. As such, the printing press played a key role in popularizing ideas associated with the new Protestant faith during the European Reformation, allowing the press to “shape and channel a mass movement,”

Protestant thinkers used the printing press to spread their ideas across Europe, pamphlets by Reformation leader Martin Luther, outnumbering Catholic writers five to three and making up 20 percent of all pamphlets published between 1500 and 1530. The invention of the printing press removed control of written material from the Catholic Church

G.R. Evans writes, “THE PRINTING PRESS WAS THE FACEBOOK OR TWITTER OF ITS TIME.” It was a new and exciting technology and it was fast. What was said in print had the power to spread much faster and much farther than anything before it

THE WORLD WOULD BE FOREVER TRANSFORMED.

”NO REFORMER WAS MORE ADEPT THAN MARTIN LUTHER AT USING THE POWER OF THE GUTENBERG PRESS TO SPREAD AND COMMUNICATE HIS IDEAS. BETWEEN 1518 AND 1525, LUTHER PUBLISHED MORE WORKS THAN THE NEXT 17 MOST PROLIFIC REFORMERS COMBINED.

    UNTIL DONALD J. TRUMP…..

IT WAS JUST A MATTER OF TIME AND TECHNOLOGY

HISTORIANS WILL DATE THE START OF THE TRUMP’S REFORMATION OF AMERICA  TO JUNE 16, 2015 WHEN HE FORMALLY ANNOUNCED HIS CANDIDACY FOR PRESIDENT OF  THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

AMERICAN HISTORY IS FILLED WITH NOTABLE PRESIDENTIAL COMMUNICATORS: LINCOLN, FDR, KENNEDY, REAGAN AND OBAMA. EACH, IN THEIR TIME, USED THEIR SKILLED ORATORY ALONG WITH THE TECHNOLOGY OF THEIR DAY, TO DELIVER THEIR MESSAGE TO A NATION AND THE WORLD.

DONALD J. TRUMP WON SOCIAL MEDIA.

TRUMP WAS THE MOST GOOGLED CANDIDATE, AND ALSO MOST MENTIONED ON TWITTER AND FACEBOOK.

  • Defining the Establishment Raccoons?

    Defining the Establishment Raccoons?
I don’t know who wrote this, but it is fantastic!

This is WHY Trump has such a following.

Many have asked me if I support the republican party?

Here is a letter someone sent to the RNC… You be the judge…

    Dear Representative,

From the time I was able to vote I voted republican. I am 80 and have a great deal of respect and influence with hundreds of senior ball players who also network with thousands of others around the country.

I received your questionnaire and request for money and strongly agree with every question as I have since Obama was elected. Unfortunately the one question that was missing is “What have the republicans done for the American people?” We gave you a majority in the house and senate and you never listened to us. Now you want our money.

You should be more concerned about our votes not our money. You are the establishment which means all you want is to save your jobs and line your pockets… Well guess what? “It’s not going to happen” You can shake in your boots when I tell you our movement is for TRUMP and he hasn’t asked for a dime.

You might think we are fools because you feel Trump is on a self destruct course but look beyond Washington and listen to the masses. Nobody has achieved what he has, especially in a state of New York.

If you really want to know how the majority of people feel? And this applies to both democrats and republicans, read below, it says it all.

    Sincerely,

You’ve been on vacation for two weeks, you come home, and your basement is infested with raccoons. Hundreds of rabid, messy, mean raccoons have overtaken your basement. You want them gone immediately… You call the city, 4 different exterminators but nobody could handle the job… But there is this one guy and he guarantees you to get rid of them, so you hire him. You don’t care if the guy smells, you don’t care if the guy swears, you don’t care if he’s an alcoholic, you don’t care how many times he’s been married, you don’t care if he voted for Obama, you don’t care if he has plumber’s crack…you simply want those raccoons gone! You want your problem fixed! He’s the guy. He’s the best. Period

Here’s why we want Trump, yes he’s a bit of an ass, yes he’s an egomaniac, but we don’t care. The country is a mess because politicians suck, the Republican Party is two-faced & gutless, and illegals are everywhere. We want it all fixed! We don’t care that Trump is crude, we don’t care that he insults people, we don’t care that he had been friendly with Hillary, we don’t care that he has changed positions, we don’t care that he’s been married 3 times, we don’t care that he fights with Megan Kelly and Rosie O’Donnell, we don’t care that he doesn’t know the name of some Muslin terrorist. This country is weak, bankrupt, our enemies are making fun of us, we are being invaded by illegal’s, we are becoming a nation of victims where every Tom, Ricardo and Hasid is a special group with special rights to a point where we don’t even recognize the country we were born and raised in; “AND WE JUST WANT IT FIXED” and Trump is the only guy who seems to understand what the people want. We’re sick of politicians, sick of the Democratic Party, Republican Party, and sick of illegals. We just want this thing fixed. Trump may not be a saint, but doesn’t have lobbyist money holding him, he doesn’t have political correctness restraining him, all you know is that he has been very successful, a good negotiator, he has built a lot of things, and he’s also not a politician, he’s not a cowardly politician. And he says he’ll fix it. And we believe him because he is too much of an egotist to be proven wrong or looked at and called a liar.

Also we don’t care if the guy has bad hair.

We just want those raccoons gone.

    Out of your house.

    NOW.

You are welcome to pass this on.

This example follows a pattern: one desires something, finds it unattainable, and reduces one’s dissonance by criticizing it
    —————————————————-
    The Fox & the Grapes
A Fox one day spied a beautiful bunch of ripe grapes hanging from a vine trained along the branches of a tree. The grapes seemed ready to burst with juice, and the Fox’s mouth watered as he gazed longingly at them.
The bunch hung from a high branch, and the Fox had to jump for it. The first time he jumped he missed it by a long way. So he walked off a short distance and took a running leap at it, only to fall short once more. Again and again he tried, but in vain.
Now he sat down and looked at the grapes in disgust.
“What a fool I am,” he said. “Here I am wearing myself out to get a bunch of sour grapes that are not worth gaping for.”
And off he walked very, very scornfully.
There are many who pretend to despise and belittle that which is beyond their reach.
    ————————————————————————————–
    “THE FOX AND THE GRAPES”
A classic illustration of cognitive dissonance is expressed in the fable “The Fox and the Grapes” by Aesop (ca. 620–564 BCE). In the story, a fox sees some high-hanging grapes and wishes to eat them. When the fox is unable to think of a way to reach them, he decides that the grapes are probably not worth eating, with the justification the grapes probably are not ripe or that they are sour (hence the common phrase “sour grapes”).

The moral that accompanies the story is

“Any fool can despise what he can not get”.
This example follows a pattern: one desires something, finds it unattainable, and reduces one’s dissonance by criticizing it. Jon Elster calls this pattern “adaptive preference formation”.[18]

    ————————————————————————

1849 Great fires burned in the Coast Range of Oregon, but apparently none occurred in the Olympics.

1864 to 1868 Many large fires burned in Oregon and Washington in 1864, 1867 and 1868.

The Ludlow- Quilcene Fire started in slash near Port Ludlow in September 1864 and burned several thousand acres under a high east wind. The fire burned on Mt. Walker, Mt.Turner, and the Quilcene Ridge. Most of the area burned in one or two days. Other fires occurred in the area, including Vancouver Island. In 1868, again many Fires occurred in western Washington and Oregon.

Much of the area was covered by smoke for extended periods.

Apparently little of the Olympic National Forest burned in this year, but there were fires all around.

There was at least one large fire between Olympia and Seabeck (August13) and others in the San Juans, near Montesano, on both sides of Hood Canal, Discovery Bay, near Bellingham, Snoqualmie, and on Vancouver Island.

These Fires burned into September, flaring up under east wind conditions.

(1864) THE DROUGHT WAS SO SEVERE THAT SUMMER that heavy thunder showers on September 2 (1864) apparently did little to quell the fires.

Records taken at the mouth of the Columbia River

SHOWED THAT THIS WAS THE DRIEST JUNE, JULY, AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER FOR THE 58-YEAR RECORD UP TO THAT TIME.

THIS APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN THE WORST FIRE SEASON SINCE THE EARLY 1700’S.

Most of these fires started from land clearing or careless tending of cooking fires.

1885 The Nellton Burn near Lake Quinault started from right-of-way clearing on the old Quinault trail. it burned about 2000 acres.

1890 and 1891 Several fires apparently burned in the Soleduck Valley in the early 1890’s. One in Kugel Creek burned about 2000 acres. Others occurred in the Bear Creek, Pysht River and Twin Creeks area.

In 1890 land clearing fires burned out of control in the foothills near SEQUIM . Rainfall that next winter was light and at least one of these fires survived the winter by moldering in rotted logs or stumps. It flared up the next spring and burned toward the south, Eventually covering about 30,000 acres on the Quilcene District, mostly In the DUNGENESS drainage.

1902 This was another fire year like 1868. Many fires burned throughout western Washington and Oregon. Much property and at least 16 lives were lost.

1902 The biggest of the fires during this summer was the famous Yacolt Burn In the Lewis Valley. It burned about 250,000 acres.

1902 The biggest fire on the Olympic Peninsula, the Elma-Humptulips Fire, burned from near EIma to the Humptulips River mostly on September11. Both the Vacolt and the Elma-Humptulips fires burned under high east wind conditions. A small fire appears to have burned near the Tubal Cain Mine.

    ————————————————————————————

1902.THERE WERE PERHAPS HUNDREDS OF FIRES BURNING IN WESTERN WASHINGTON AND IN WESTERN OREGON IN SEPTEMBER

IT WAS PERHAPS THE WORST FIRE YEAR OF THE LAST 275 YEARS, BEING MORE SEVERE, EVEN, THAN THE FIRE SEASON OF 1868.

1907 The Great Soleduck Fire burned about 12,800 acres in the Soleduck Valley between Lake Crescent and Bear Creek along the south side of Snider Ridge In the summer of 1907. ft started in April when a settler named Cap Mueller was burning ferns in a field (a common practice at the time).

THE 1907 FIRE WAS NOT PUT OUT, AS WAS ALSO COMMON, AND IT SPREAD TO NEARBY FOREST.

By July 1907 it was burning out of control and threatening other settlers in the Lake Crescent-Soleduck Valley area. Most of the area burned during one afternoon when a strong east wind came up (Morgenroth 1935).

1908.. Another fire In the same area burned about 3000 acres in 1908.

1910 Many fires burned in western Washington and Oregon, but none of any consequence and apparently no fires occurred on the Olympic National Forest.

1910 The big fires In this summer occurred in Idaho and Montana.

    —————————————————————-

1916 to 1920 Many small to moderate fires burned on the Forest during these dry years. Most were logging related fires, although some were caused by lightning. Most of these fires occurred in the rainshadow of the Olympics, especially In Environmental Zones 9, 10, and11.

THE BIGGEST OF THESE FIRES WERE

    Duckabush Fire – 4810 acres (1918)

    Littleton Fire – 3200 acres (1920)

    Slab Camp Fire – 3000 acres (1917)

    Dosewaiilps Fire – 2665 acres (1918)

    Canyon Hill Fire – 2170 acres (1918)

    Mt. Zion Fire – 2000 acres (1916)

1922 Duckabush Fire, Another 2000 acres burned in the

    Duckabush drainage in 1922.

1924 and 1925 This was another dry period with many fires in the Olympics, mostly in the rainshadow area.

The biggest of these fires were:

    Green Mt. Fire – 9615 acres (1925)

    Twin Creek Fire – 9250 acres (1924)

    Discovery Bay Fire – 5000 acres (1924)

    Snow Creek Fire – 3825 acres (1925)

    Snow Creek Fire – 3100 acres (1924)

    Phoenix Camp Fire – 3080 acres (1924)

    Penney Creek Fire – 1774 acres (1924)

1928 The Hobi Fire burned 3507 acres near Quinault. In

1927 , 35,000 acres of the Vacolt burn in the Lewis River reburned.

1929 Many lightning fires were started this year. The Forest recorded 85 lightning caused fires.

The biggest was the Interrorom Fire which burned 8602 acres in the lower Duckabush and Fulton Creek drainages. Also, 1495 acres burned in the Hamma Hamma drainage.

1930 This was another year with many lightning fires,

120 on the Forest, but none larger than 1000 acres.

1932 The Hamma Hamme fire started from logging and burned 2165 acres.

1933A few small fires burned on the Forest

The Tillam00k fire in Oregon covered about 250,000 acres.

1939 The Deep Creek Fire burned 13,000 acres of which 3460 acres were on the Olympic National Forest

1942 Two fires burned In the Bear Creek-Calawah River area and covered 5844 acres.

    —————————————————————

1951 The Great Forks Fire, also called the Port Angeles-

Western (PAW) Fire covered about 33,000 acres (18,500

acres of National Forest land) (Figure 8).

In August, a fire started along the Port Angeles-Western right-of-way. The

fire was contained, but by September 19th it flared up

again. By the morning of September 20th it was raging

out of control, carried by a strong east wind. At 2:30 pm

everyone In the town of Forks was ordered to evacuate.

The town was thought to be doomed. By evening the

wind shifted, and an oncoming low pressure system

helped stop the fire at the outskirts of town. Over 30

buildings were burned, Including one mill, a motel, and

    28 houses (Smith 1976, Campbell 1979).

     ———————————————————————————

1952 At least two fires burned in the Bear Creek- Deadman Creek area, and covered about 16,000 acres.

This was the last big fire to occur on the Forest.

    2. IMPACTS AND EFFECTIVENESS OF LOGGING BANS IN NATURAL FORESTS: NEW ZEALAND

     ALAN REID

    INTRODUCTION

New Zealand’s natural forests have been the subject of protracted public and political debate regarding the role of Government in forestry and the future use of natural forests during the last three decades. THIS REVIEW COVERS THE EVOLUTION OF THE COUNTRY’S LOGGING BAN SINCE THE EARLY 1970S, when public interest and disquiet over natural forest management became prominent, through late 1999 when the Government decided to phase out the last logging operations on State-owned natural forests in the West Coast region.

Some events played major roles in the way logging restrictions have been implemented. One was the development of planted forests of introduced species, which eventually became the main source of timber in New Zealand. Another was the reorganization of the Government natural resources administration in the mid-1980s, which resulted in the separation of commercial planted forests and natural forests.

Prior to these events, large areas of natural forests covering New Zealand’s rugged and erosion-prone terrain were also set aside for water and soil protection. Such reservation became a feature of forest management when the first Government policy on natural forest management and timber sales was formulated.

The exclusion of timber harvests from other natural forests, as a matter of national policy for conservation reasons, is a relatively recent development in New Zealand. Logging restrictions followed growing public interest in natural forest management in the 1970s, and subsequent political changes affecting forestry administration. The Government reorganized the natural forest administration in 1987. Maturing planted forests provide alternative raw material in many parts of the country, cushioning the effect of these changes in the forest industry.

After 1987, new policies and legislation focused on private forests. Timber harvests have not been banned in these forests. Commercial timber harvests are, however, restricted by export, sawmilling, and sustainable forest management constraints.

NATURAL FOREST AREAS AFFECTED BY LOGGING BANS

Logging restrictions eventually will apply to about 5.1 million ha of New Zealand’s State-owned natural forests. An additional 142 000 ha of State-owned natural forests and about 1.3 million ha of private forests are subject to restrictions that limit commercial timber harvest according to sustainable forest management guidelines. However, much of the natural forests in all ownerships cover steep land and other protection areas. AFTER FORESTS WITHIN CATCHMENT PROTECTION AREAS, NATIONAL PARKS, AND OTHER KEY RESERVE AREAS ARE REMOVED FROM THE AVAILABLE HARVEST AREA, AN ESTIMATED 930 000 HA OF LOGGED AND UNLOGGED FORESTS ON STATE LANDS REMAIN DIRECTLY AFFECTED BY THE LOGGING BAN. Similarly, about 670 000 ha of private forests are potentially available for commercial management, although only about 124 000 ha of this area are currently of commercial interest.

    snippet, Social implications

The impacts on employment and income generation from logging restrictions have been felt most in the smaller milling-dependant communities. The pre-1987 restrictions especially affected people living in communities in the central North Island, South Island West Coast, and Southland, which served older mills cutting natural timber. Some smaller isolated towns, notably those serving larger mills, lost substantial populations or closed completely. Some regional communities also supported farming and other activities, or alternative employment was available in the planted forest operations.

We were endorsed  and encouraged  by the HONKING OF HORNS, THE THUMBS UP  AND COMMENTS from  like minded law abiding  American citizens, We were all PROUD to be representing a our local community in a rally to support of law enforcement

A Sequim Gazette reporter and photographer did show up at the rally.

Of course I made a comment to them, it’s my personal sacrifice.

I can hardly wait to see what the Sequim Gazette puts in print?

Friday Jan. 9, 2015 marked National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day

    Posted: Jan 09, 2015 6:44 PM PST Updated: Jan 09, 2015 9:07 PM PST

SCOTT COUNTY, MO (KFVS) – You may have noticed a lot of blue around Heartland cities on Friday, Jan. 9.

Many joined in a nationwide effort to show support for law enforcement.

Friday marks Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, or L-E-A-D.

Americans were encouraged to show their support for police officers, and many took up that call in Scott County.

Deputies were treated to breakfast and lunch by local businesses and schools.

Recent findings show 780,000 Americans pin on a badge every day and go out to serve and protect.

On average, between around 100 and 200 officers die in the line of duty each year.

With recent months of polarizing events, pitting some citizens against police, law enforcement officials say this day of appreciation means a lot.

“It was good. I mean a lot of times when people deal with us they don’t see the positive side of law enforcement sometimes,” said Senior Deputy Matt Scroggins with the Scott County Sheriff’s Office. “So it’s nice to know that people realize we’re not all bad guys.”

Students also wrote thank you cards to officers which now hang at the sheriff’s office.

The National Fraternal Order of Police has partnered with C.O.P.S. and law enforcement associations across America on a National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day scheduled for

January 9th, 2015. Please share this information with members in your states.

In light of recent negativity directed toward law enforcement nationally, there is a need to show law enforcement officers that our citizens recognize the difficult and sometimes impossible career they have chosen, in public service to us all.

Can you imagine going to work each day and wondering if you’ll survive your shift and see your family that night? Most people can’t. But in law enforcement, this is a fact of life. Each day 780,000 police officers across our country put a badge on and go to work knowing they may face extremely dangerous situations. Yet, they go to work anyway. Being a law enforcement officer is not just a job, it is a calling. The pay is low, the hours can be terrible, and there is sometimes little appreciation for what you do. Yet, they do it anyway.

What the public doesn’t see is the lengths law enforcement takes to keep our communities safe. On average, between 105 and 203 officers die in the line of duty each year, 50,000 officers are assaulted in the line of duty each year, 14,000 officers are injured in the line of duty each year, and over 300 officers commit suicide each year. There is no other profession in the world, except possibly the military, where you will find these kinds of statistics.

Being a law enforcement officer truly is an impossible job. You must be professional, courteous, caring and yet be ready to protect the public at all times. You must be prepared to make life and death decisions at a moment’s notice. You take an amazing amount of abuse at times, but have to view this abuse as just “part of the job.” You do not have the liberty to express your emotions during many situations.

Law enforcement officers play such an integral part in our society; without them, chaos would reign. Have you ever thought about what you would do if you were in trouble – a car accident, a home invasion, an assault – and you did not have someone to call for help? No matter how much abuse law enforcement takes, they continue to do their job, and do it well. They are the guardians of our way of life and they deserve our support.

On January 9th, we call our nation’s citizens to action in support of law enforcement. Those citizens who appreciate law enforcement and are discouraged about the negative attention being given, are encouraged take time on Friday, January 9th to show their support. Support can be shown in a number of ways:

CO IS THE MOST COMMON CAUSE OF POISONING DEATHS IN THE UNITED STATES

and every year more than 20 New Mexicans die as a result of accidental or unintentional exposure to this toxic gas. Patients who survive are likely to develop long-term neurological problems.

The co poisoning hospitalizations data can be used to assess the burden of severe co poisoning, monitor trends over time, and to inform co EXPOSURE PREVENTION, education, and evaluation efforts to prevent poisoning.

WITH AN AVERAGE OF 430 CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING DEATHS PER YEAR OCCURRING IN THE UNITED STATES, in a normal WEATHER year.

THIS CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING WARNING IS FROM ENGLAND AND WALES

Carbon monoxide incidents over the last 21 months have been rising faster than our charity has ever seen before. Carbon monoxide incidents I believe will go up even faster due to more and more people families being forced to live in poverty. Food banks are popping up everywhere and the last thing on any ones mind will be to make sure ALL their fuel burning appliances are serviced and their chimney if they have ones is swept. I am keen to prevent this from happening to anyone else living/working in the UK but I and the charity need much more support to do this. I HAVE 54 PRESS CLIPPINGS FOR CARBON MONOXIDE INCIDENTS THIS YEAR. Our website carries a just over half of them please see: http://covictim.org/articles/details/carbon-monoxide-poisoning-related-news-jan-mar-204

THE POWER OF CYBERSPACE… This is the email I received  11/11/14

    Hello,

I stumbled on upon your site and when searching for property blogs and your website really stood out.

My name is Sean and I work for a digital marketing agency assisting BoilerJuice – the UK’s leading online supplier of heating oil.

and I wanted to draw your attention to an infographic that we created to help homeowners understand the risks of an unsafe boiler and learn how to detect the dangers signs.

We feel that it could be a useful resource to your readers. You can find the infographic here.

We were wondering whether you would be interested in hosting or writing a guest post with this infographic alongside an article directed to landlords about the dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning.

What are your thoughts about this?

    Thanks,

    Sean

Charity’s “9th Carbon Monoxide Awareness Week” starts Monday 17th November. – See more at: http://covictim.org/articles/details/charity-s-9th-carbon-monoxide-awareness-week-starts-monday-17th-november#sthash.oB2W8itp.dpuf

Please pledge your support to our charity’s 9th National Carbon Monoxide Awareness Week.

Most of the charity’s posters and leaflets can be found on our website http://covictim.org/resources/ or on one of the charity’s main supporters website’s  carrying their own logo below.

Working together to help prevent deaths and injuries from carbon monoxide:

    For info:

Carbon Monoxide Awareness is an independent registered charity run “entirely” by unpaid volunteers founded by myself along with the charity’s Carbon Monoxide Awareness Week. The “Charity’s 9th Carbon Monoxide Awareness Week” runs from Monday 17th November to Sunday 23rd November 2014. The aim of the week is to warn those living/working in the UK that:

    • Carbon Monoxide is produced by the “incomplete combustion” of ANY hydrocarbon fuel coal, charcoal, wood, biomass, oil, petrol, diesel, natural gas and LPG and not just natural gas as so many people believe.
    • You can be poisoned by carbon monoxide while in your own home, from an adjoining property, in a car, campervan, caravan, tent, holiday accommodation or on a boat.
    • The need to get all their fuel burning appliances serviced and their chimney swept every year.
    • Letting tenants know what their landlords should do to protect them.
    • Please see: http://covictim.org/articles/details/pledge-your-support-to-charity-s-9th-national-carbon-monoxide-awareness-week-

The charity and I urgently need your support to help prevent what happened to my family from happening to someone else who lives/works here in the UK before they become the next victim of this silent killer.

If your company is looking for a new charity of the year for 2014/15 please think of us.

TO THOSE OF YOU NOT FAMILIAR WITH JOE ARPAIO..

HE IS THE MARICOPA ARIZONA COUNTY SHERIFF.

I HAVE LONG WONDERED WHEN THE REST OF THE COUNTRY WOULD TAKE A LOOK AT THE WAY HE RUNS THE JAIL SYSTEM AND COPY SOME OF HIS IDEAS.

    ————————————————————-

SHERIFF JOE IS AT IT AGAIN !

You may remember Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Arizona , who
painted the jail cells pink and made the inmates wear pink prison garb.
    Well………

SHERIFF JOE IS AT IT AGAIN!

Oh, there’s MUCH more to know about Sheriff Joe !

     ———————————————————————–
Maricopa County was spending approx. $18 million dollars a year on stray animals, like
cats and dogs. Sheriff Joe offered to take the department over, and the County supervisors said okay.

The animal shelters are now all staffed and operated by prisoners. They feed and
care for the strays. Every animal in his care is taken out and walked twice daily. He now has prisoners who are experts in animal nutrition and behavior. They give great classes for anyone who’d like to adopt an animal. He has literally taken stray dogs off the street, given them to the care of prisoners, and had them place in dog shows.
    THE BEST PART?

His budget for the entire department is now under $3 million. Teresa and I adopted a
Weimaraner from a Maricopa County shelter two years ago. He was neutered and current on all shots, in great health, and even had a microchip inserted the day we got him. Cost us $78.

The prisoners get the benefit of about $0.28 an hour for working, but most would work
for free, just to be out of their cells for the day. Most of his budget is for utilities,
building maintenance, etc. He pays the prisoners out of the fees collected for adopted animals.

I HAVE LONG WONDERED WHEN THE REST OF THE COUNTRY WOULD TAKE A LOOK AT THE WAY HE RUNS THE JAIL SYSTEM AND COPY SOME OF HIS IDEAS.

Hehas a huge farm, donated to the county years ago, where inmates can work, and they grow most of their own fresh vegetables and food, doing all the work and harvesting by hand.

He has a pretty good sized hog farm, which provides meat and fertilizer. It fertilizes the Christmas tree nursery, where prisoners work, and you can buy a living Christmas tree for $6 – $8 for the holidays and plant it later. We have six trees in our yard from the prison.

YUP, HE WAS RE-ELECTED LAST YEAR WITH 83% OF THE VOTE.
Now he’s in trouble with the ACLU again. He painted all his buses and vehicles with a mural that has a special hotline phone number painted on it, where you can call and report suspected illegal aliens. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement wasn’t doing enough in his eyes, so he had 40 deputies trained specifically for enforcing immigration laws, started up his hotline, and bought 4 new buses just for hauling folks back to the border.

HE’S KIND OF A ‘GIT-R-DUN’ KIND OF SHERIFF.

TO THOSE OF YOU NOT FAMILIAR WITH JOE ARPAIO..

HE IS THE MARICOPA ARIZONA COUNTY SHERIFF AND HE KEEPS

    GETTING ELECTED OVER AND OVER.
THIS IS ONE OF THE REASONS WHY:

Sheriff Joe Arpaio (in Arizona ) who created the ‘ Tent City Jail’
** He has jail meals down to 40 cents a serving and charges the inmates for them.

** He stopped smoking and porno magazines in the jail.

    ** Took away their weights.

** Cut off all but ‘G’ movies.

** He started chain gangs so the inmates could do free work on
    county and city projects.

** Then he started chain gangs for women so he wouldn’t get sued
    for discrimination.

** He took away cable TV until he found out there was a federal
court order that required cable TV for jails, so he hooked up the cable TV
again…..BUT only let in the Disney channel and the Weather channel.

** When asked why the weather channel, he replied, “So they will know how hot it’s
gonna be while they are working on my chain gangs.”

** He cut off coffee since it has zero nutritional value.

** When the inmates complained, he told them, “This isn’t
The Ritz/Carlton…… If you don’t like it, don’t come back.”

    More On The Arizona Sheriff:

With temperatures being even hotter than usual in Phoenix (116 degrees just set a new record), the Associated Press reports: About 2,000 inmates living in a barbed-wire-surrounded tent encampment at the Maricopa County jail have been given permission to strip down to their government-issued pink boxer shorts.
On Wednesday, hundreds of men wearing boxers were either curled up on their bunk beds or chatted in the tents, which reached 138 degrees inside the week before. Many were also swathed in wet, pink towels as sweat collected on their chests and dripped down to their PINK SOCKS.  “It feels like we are in a furnace,” said James Zanzot, an inmate who has lived in the TENTS for 1 year. “It’s inhumane.”

Joe Arpaio, the tough-guy sheriff who created the tent city and long ago started making his prisoners wear pink and eat bologna sandwiches, is not one bit sympathetic.
He said Wednesday that he told all of the inmates, “It’s 120 degrees in Iraq and our
soldiers are living in tents too, and they have to wear full battle gear, but they didn’t commit any crimes, so shut your mouths!”

    Way to go, Sheriff !

Maybe if all prisons were like this one there would be a lot less crime and/or repeat offenders. Criminals should be punished for their crimes – not live in luxury until it’s time for their parole, only to go out and commit another crime so they can get back in to live on taxpayers’ money and enjoy things taxpayers can’t afford to have for themselves.

    Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office

Welcome to the site of Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office. … About Sheriff Joe · Career Opportunities · Deputy Sheriff · Detention Officer · POSSE · Reserve Deputy …

    http://www.mcso.org/About/Sheriff.aspx

    About Sheriff Joe Arpaio

You probably know him as “America’s Toughest Sheriff,” a name given to him years ago by the media. It’s a name he certainly has earned as head of the nation’s third largest Sheriff’s Office which employs over 3400 people. But even before he became Sheriff in 1993, Joe Arpaio was one tough lawman. After serving in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1953, and as a Washington, D.C., and Las Vegas, NV, police officer for almost five years, Arpaio went on to build a federal law enforcement career and a reputation for fighting crime and drug trafficking around the world.

He began his career as a federal narcotics agent, establishing a stellar record in infiltrating drug organizations from Turkey to the Middle East to Mexico, Central, and South America to cities around the U.S. His expertise and success led him to top management positions around the world with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). He concluded his remarkable federal career as head of the DEA for Arizona.

In 1992, Arpaio successfully campaigned to become the Sheriff of Maricopa County. Since then he has been reelected to an unprecedented six 4-year terms. During his tenure as Sheriff of Maricopa County, Arpaio has consistently earned high public approval ratings.

With over five decades experience in law enforcement, Arpaio knows what the public wants, “The public is my boss,” he says, “so I serve the public.” He has served them well by establishing several unique programs.

Arpaio has between 7500 – 10,000 inmates in his jail system. In August, 1993, he started the nation’s largest Tent City for convicted inmates. Two thousand convicted men and women serve their sentences in a canvas incarceration compound. It is a remarkable success story that has attracted the attention of government officials, presidential candidates, and media worldwide.

Of equal success and notoriety are his chain gangs, which contribute thousands of dollars of free labor to the community. The male chain gang, and the world’s first-ever female and juvenile chain gangs, clean streets, paint over graffiti, and bury the indigent in the county cemetery.

Also impressive are the Sheriff’s get tough policies. For example, he banned smoking, coffee, movies, pornographic magazines, and unrestricted TV in all jails. He has the cheapest meals in the U.S. too. The average meal costs between 15 and 40 cents, and inmates are fed only twice daily, to cut the labor costs of meal delivery. He even stopped serving them salt and pepper to save tax payers $20,000 a year.

Another program Arpaio is very well known for is the pink underwear he makes all inmates wear. Years ago, when the Sheriff learned that inmates were stealing jailhouse white boxers, Arpaio had all inmate underwear dyed pink for better inventory control. The same is true for the Sheriff’s handcuffs. When they started disappearing, he ordered pink handcuffs as a replacement.

Arpaio has started another controversial program on the website WWW.MCSO.org. Mugshots of all those arrested (about 300 per day) are posted on the Sheriff’s website as they are booked and processed into jail. Just under a million hits daily come into the website, making it one of the most visible law enforcement sites on the internet.

In addition to these tough measures, the Sheriff has launched rehabilitative programs like “Hard Knocks High,” the only accredited high school under a Sheriff in an American jail, and ALPHA, an anti-substance-abuse program that has greatly reduced recidivism.

As chief law enforcement officer for the county, Arpaio continues to reduce crime with hard-hitting enforcement methods. His deputies and detectives have solved several high-profile murder cases, including numerous child murders. The posse, whose ranks have increased to 3,000 members under Arpaio, is the nation’s largest volunteer posse. Posse men and women help in search and rescue and other traditional police work as well as in special operations like rounding up deadbeat parents, fighting prostitution, patrolling malls during holidays, and investigating animal cruelty complaints. The posse’s contributions are invaluable and essentially free to taxpayers.

No wonder Sheriff Arpaio has been profiled in over 4500 U.S. and foreign newspapers, magazines, and TV news programs. His leadership and the excellent work of his staff have catapulted the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office into the ranks of elite law enforcement agencies.

On a personal note, Sheriff Arpaio and his wife Ava have been married for over 56 years and have two children, both residing in the Phoenix area. The Arpaios have four grandchildren.

Arpaio looks forward to many more years as Sheriff of Maricopa County.

January 24, 2009 Below is a report about sheriff Joe that has been circulating in emails for a year or more now but I think many readers here will enjoy reading it. Snopes has confirmed it as factually accurate, though you could almost hear the teeth grinding as they did so. They have a particular devotion to poking holes in anything that encourages conservatism
