    Stop. Catch the last part of that line? This part: “… and recognizing the promising students who represent the next generation of our profession.”

    This is a reference to the fact that the Correspondents’ Dinner uses its proceeds to fund scholarships for those “promising students” who are the “next generation of our profession.” 

    Now. What questions are not being asked here — by journalists? Journalists whose job it is to ask questions.

    What is the elephant in the room that seems to be blissfully ignored?

    WHAT IS THE CENTRAL COMPLAINT OF PRESIDENT TRUMP? And indeed the routine complaint of Republican presidents and presidential candidates (not to mention rank-and-file conservatives) for decades?

    That would be that the media suffers from what seems to be — after several decades of this — an incurable liberal bias. And not by accident, either.

     All those polls taken over the years (like this one from Pew in 2008) repeatedly show a heavy liberal tilt in the journalism community.

    THE WHITE HOUSE CORRESPONDENTS’ ASSOCIATION IS BUT A DROP IN THE OCEAN OF TODAY’S MEDIA, YET A LOOK AT THE SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS THE GROUP ADVERTISES ON ITS WEBSITE IS A TELLING IF NOT STARTLING LOOK AT HOW LIBERAL BIAS IN THE MEDIA IS SELF-PERPETUATED, PASSED FROM ONE GENERATION TO THE NEXT.

    So far, so good. Then it lists the winners — AND THEIR INTERESTS. Among those interests?

    • A Howard University winner “is determined to write about the plight of what he calls America’s ‘throwaway’ people: the homeless on our streets, often mentally ill, who are sometimes ignored in our society.”
    • A Northwestern University, Medill School of Journalism winner wants “to hone her skills as a political and social justice reporter.”
    • A COLUMBIA SCHOOL OF JOURNALISM WINNER WANTS TO USE HER REPORTING SKILLS FOR “ULTIMATELY FOCUSING ON POLITICAL ISLAM; PROBLEMS FACED BY MUSLIM IMMIGRANTS AND THE WAY RELIGION IN GENERAL AND ISLAM IN PARTICULAR IS ABUSED BY RADICALS IN UNDERDEVELOPED COUNTRIES.”
    • A University of Missouri, Columbia winner says her “favorite stories are those that involve issues of corporate social responsibility.”
    • Another University of Missouri, Columbia winner enjoys “writing about the connectivity of science, health and the environment with social justice issues.”
    • A University of California, Berkeley winner has been writing “for media outlets such as Univision Noticias.”
    • A University of Maryland, College Park winner “does volunteer work with organizations such as the Maryland Association of Black Journalists, the Capitol Area Food Bank, SHARE Food Network and Kaiser Permanente.”

    NOTICE A CURIOUS PATTERN HERE?

    NOT ONE OF THE UNIVERSITIES THAT WHCA PARTNERS WITH HAS A REPUTATION FOR CONSERVATISM. There is, for example, no partnership with a Hillsdale College or Jerry Falwell’s Liberty University or some similar conservative institution of higher learning.

     AND NOTE ALL OF THESE WINNERS ARE INTERESTED IN USING THEIR JOURNALISTIC SKILLS ON ISSUES LIKE SOCIAL JUSTICE, THE HOMELESS, THE ABUSE OF ISLAM BY RADICALS, CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AND MORE.

    STRANGELY, IN TERMS OF THE POLITICAL SPECTRUM, EVERY ONE OF THESE ISSUES AND MORE ARE TRADITIONALLY IDENTIFIED AS ISSUES IMPORTANT TO LIBERALS.

    Not one of these winners, one suspects, would be into investigating Planned Parenthood. There are, one similarly suspects, no pro-lifers here.

    The winner who contributes to UNIVISION NOTICIAS, famously the home of Trump critics like anchorman JORGE RAMOS, is, one suspects, not eager to be a conservative journalist.

     One can also suspect that these kids will not be seeking writing jobs here at The American Spectator or interning for Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity at Fox. Indeed, Rush informs that to the degree he has used interns in his various projects they are “never from WCHA.” Hannity was a similar negative, when asked. And a query to Wlady Pleszczynski, the editorial director of The American Spectator and editor of AmSpec Online, as to whether there had ever been a WCHA scholarship winner on the premises drew this response: “A joke question, right!?”

    Let’s be clear. Hooray for scholarships. Hooray for ambitious college kids who want a future in journalism. But, at least per the WCHA’s own website, the winners selected by the group for 2016 seem to have been — to a person —

     NOT JUST YOUNG JOURNALISTS IN TRAINING BUT MORE TO THE POINT YOUNG LIBERAL JOURNALISTS IN TRAINING.

     ALL DRAWN FROM A POOL SUPPLIED BY LIBERAL UNIVERSITIES.

     If past WHCA scholarship winners have wound up anywhere in the conservative media — at, say, the Washington Times, Glenn Beck’s the Blaze, National Review, or — gasp! — Breitbart, there is no indication. (Indeed, in the current day, one can only imagine the uproar inside the WHCA, if a scholarship winner was in any way associated with Steve Bannon’s favorite conservative site.)

    Among other things, what the dust-up over President Trump’s non-appearance at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner has revealed IS THAT PRESIDENTS OF THE UNITED STATES ARE USED AS THE MAIN ATTRACTION TO FUND A SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM THAT, IN TURN, FUNDS YOUNG LIBERAL JOURNALISTS,

     THE PARTICULAR IRONY BEING THAT REPUBLICAN PRESIDENTS HAVE BEEN ESSENTIALLY USED TO PERPETUATE THE LIBERAL MEDIA BIAS THAT THEY AND THEIR SUPPORTERS SO FREQUENTLY COMPLAIN OF.

    That’s it. I’m done. I am refusing to allow my children to participate in any Common Core-related assessments, surveys, tests – anything, now that testing has begun in earnest in our schools.

    Here’s why.

    The United Nations Organization for Education, Science and Culture (UNESCO) was founded in 1945. Its educational objectives are to “support the achievement of Education for All; to provide global and regional leadership in education; to strengthen education systems worldwide from early childhood to the adult years; and to respond to contemporary global challenges through education.”

    As the only United Nations agency with a mandate to cover all aspects of education, UNESCO’s work encompasses educational development from pre-school through higher education, including technical and vocational education and training, non-formal education, and literacy.

    The organization says it focuses on “increasing equity and access, improving quality, and ensuring that education develops knowledge and skills in areas such as sustainable development, HIV and AIDS, human rights and gender equality. UNESCO works with governments and a wide range of partners to make education systems more effective through policy change.” It coordinates the “Education for All movement, tracks education trends and raises the profile of educational needs on global development agendas.”

    So our children are being herded into “global development agendas” that our and other governments deem fit.

    Alex Newman, a correspondent for The New American, noted that in 1949, UNESCO printed a pamphlet on using the classroom to promote “world understanding,” stating, “As long as the child breathes the poisoned air of nationalism, education in world-mindedness can only produce precarious results.” So, to deal with that, schools should use various means to “combat family attitudes.”

    By 1984, J.C. Pauvert had penned a document for UNESCO’s Division of Higher Education and Training of Educational Personnel entitled “A Methodological Guide to the Application of the Notion of Common Core in the Training of Various Categories of Educational Personnel.” It discusses the origins of “the notion of the common core as a process of transmission of knowledge, skills, or behavior that always involves comparable psychological mechanisms, set in motion by identical intentions, guided by learning objectives, put into practice in accordance with strategies and subjected to procedures of evaluation which are also comparable.”

    “On November 17, 2004 at UNESCO’s headquarters in Paris, UNESCO signed a 26-page, five year Cooperation Agreement with Microsoft Corporation to develop a ‘master curriculum (Syllabus)’ for teacher training in information technologies based on standards, guidelines, benchmarks, and assessment techniques. It states that the Syllabus will ‘form the basis for deriving training content to be delivered to teachers,’ and ‘UNESCO will explore how to facilitate content development.’ UNESCO Director General Matsuura confirmed that one of the Agreement’s goals is to foster content development, and create a worldwide curricula reflecting UNESCO values. No doubt that is agreeable to Bill Gates because the Agreement states that Microsoft supports the objectives of UNESCO.”

    The Gates Foundation then went on to underwrite the organizations that were writing the Common Core standards: the National Governors Association, David Coleman’s Student Achievement Partners, the Council of Chief State School Officers, and Achieve Inc. Those four organizations, primarily responsible for development of the Common Core State Standards, have thus far taken $147.9 million in funding from Bill Gates. And I haven’t even touched on the data collection.

    In 2010, Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, gave a speech at UNESCO in Paris entitled “The Vision of Education Reform in the United States,” where he discussed “new partnerships,” which, he stated, “must inspire students to take a bigger and deeper view of their civic obligations – not only to their countries of origin, but to the betterment of the global community. A just and socially responsible society must also be anchored in civic engagement for the public good.”

    Duncan went on to call the governance of education in the United States “unusual,” in that the federal government has had (past tense) a limited role in education policy, and that he and the president have a “cradle-to-career education agenda.” He stated outright that the Obama administration has sought to fundamentally shift the federal role.

    So I’m calling on Gov. Paul LePage to end Maine’s participation in the Common Core State Standards, and to bring back local control.

    In the meantime, state Rep. Sara Gideon, a Freeport Democrat who is the assistant House majority leader, recently told MPBN’s Jay Field that “right now, parents do have an option.” She said a U.S. Supreme Court decision gives parents the right to opt kids out of standardized tests.

    “The issue is that, in Maine, we don’t have anything in state law that makes this clear,” Gideon said. So she is sponsoring a bill that makes it clear, under state law, that parents have this option, and requires teachers and school administrators to let them know about it.

    Rep. Gideon, you are officially my favorite Democrat.

    Donald Trump has selected Michigan Republican, Betsy DeVos, for Secretary of Education.

    Trump said DeVos is “a brilliant and passionate education advocate” who will help him “reform the U.S. education system and break the bureaucracy that is holding our children back so that we can deliver world-class education and school choice to all families.”

    Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, a bitter political rival of Trump, praised DeVos’ appointment on Wednesday, saying she is “an outstanding pick for Secretary of Education … She has a long and distinguished history championing the right of all parents to choose schools that best ensure their children’s success. Her allegiance is to families, particularly those struggling at the bottom of the economic ladder, not to an outdated public education model that has failed them from one generation to the next.”

    The American public school system is notorious for spending lots of money on each student, failing to produce well-educated kids, and along the way, coming up with lots of really bad ideas about education.  One of the worst ideas is inviting Muslim indoctrination into the schools in the interest of multicultural “tolerance” and “awareness.”

    Religious studies are generally unwelcome in public schools, with the exception of the study of Islam.  Perhaps there are those in the education system who think that a broader understanding of Islam will make it easier to rationalize barbaric acts of mass murder, such as we saw on September 11, 2001.  But there is another more likely goal:  making all religions morally equivalent, so that no specific religion is considered superior to any other.

    The word “Islam” means “submission”.  All Mohammedans are commended to wage war against the unbelievers until they submit to Islam and the entire world becomes Islamic.*

    The U.S. is at war with Islamic terrorists who are willing to fight to the death to destroy the American way of life.  It is obvious (to most people) that homicidal maniacs and their enablers should not be teaching classes in American schools.

    Fury as German primary school ‘forces’ children to chant ‘Allahu Akbar’ in Muslim prayer.  Pupils at a primary school were forced to chant “Allahu Akhbar” and “there is no God but Allah”, an appalled father has claimed.  The father of the pupil at the girl’s primary school in German ski resort Garmisch-Partenkirchen discovered that his daughter had been forced to learn the Islamic prayer when he discovered a handout she had been given.  He claimed she had been “forced” by teachers to memorise the Islamic chants and forwarded the handout to Austrian news service unsertirol24.

    German parents may face trial after refusing mosque field trip.  The prosecutor’s office in Germany’s Itzehoe is reviewing whether or not the parents of a seventh grader may have to appear in court because they failed to pay a truancy fine over a skipped field trip to a mosque.  The 13-year-old student’s parents refused to allow their son to join his classmates on the June 14 school trip of this year to a mosque in the northern German town on Rendsburg, prosecutor Peter Müller-Rakow said on Wednesday [10/26/2016].  The field trip was reportedly part of a geography lesson.

    Pupils at German primary school after an influx of migrants are ‘forced to recite Muslim Allahu Akbar prayer’.  Primary school pupils were ‘forced to recite Muslim Allahu Akbar prayer’, according to an angry father.  The parent said his daughter was told to learn the Islamic prayer at the school in German ski resort Garmisch-Partenkirchen, where it has been reported residents are ‘suffering’ due to a migrant influx.

     

    Why Does Common Core Require Teaching Islam?  Should parents be penalized for demanding that their child be exempted from the required teaching of Islamic in Common Core curriculum?  Should a teach or public school administrator penalize parents and children for seeking exemption?  Parents are finding out the answers to these questions first hand.  To date, public school students are required to:
    •   Attend public school-sponsored trips to mosques, which also require non-Muslim girls to wear head scarves
    •   Question if the Holocaust was “merely a political scheme created to influence public emotion and gain”
    •   Learn Islamic indoctrination via vocabulary lessons, and world history (from an Islamic perspective), including the five pillars of Islam
    •   Pledge allegiance to the flag in Arabic
    •   Have school days off for “Muslim holy days”
    •   Proselytize to younger school children by creating a pamphlet about Islam to “introduce Islam to 3rd graders” by describing Allah as the same God of Christians and Jews
    •   Recite in class the Shahada (“There is No God but Allah”) and kneel and learn to pray the Muslim call to prayer

    Common Core ties to Libya, Qatar, Saudi Arabia.  “Where did Common Core come from?” is a question I often hear from parents as I travel the country speaking about the Islamic infiltration of America. Because in 2014-15 America, public school students via Common Core are:
    •   Participating in public school-sponsored trips to mosques via taxpayer expense, girls must wear head scarves (Colorado parents complain)
    •   Debating whether or not the Holocaust was “merely a political scheme created to influence public emotion and gain,” (an eighth-grade assignment defended by the Rialto Unified School District, Los Angeles)
    •   Pledging allegiance in Arabic (New York)
    •   Observing two “Muslim holy days,” (New York City)

    In Amherst, Massachusetts, the town where the college is located, the United Nations flag has flown in front of the town hall building for the last four decades. “We’re the only town in the country, by town fiat, that voted to have the U.N. flag put up,” Barbara McGarrah, the last member of the Amherst chapter of the United Nations Association, told the Amherst Bulletin in March.“I hope we continue it forever and ever,” she added.
