Globalization is clearly affected by the postmodern idea of power forged by global players such as corporations, powerful countries, the World Bank, MMF, UN, transnational public and secret organizations as creators of the New World Order.

Naturally, they do not follow wishes of people who would like such creation but rather those of global players.

REGARDING MEDIA STRATEGY, the world can be presented only according to the wishes of power structures via media as their transmission channels in function of manipulation, brainwashing and production of approval to all possible sick solutions.

Chomsky wrote about that in many of his books. He elaborated on various strategies of manipulating public such as the strategy of ”distraction” (inversion of problem), strategy ”create problems, then offer solutions”, ”gradual strategy” in sense of gradual production of approval from the public, ”strategy of deferring” or announcement of unpopular changes, strategy ”go to the public as a little child” or wandering, strategy ”use the emotional side more than the reflection” (manipulation by fears and emotions, what Hitler’s and Stalin’s propaganda had already done),

STRATEGY ”KEEP THE PUBLIC IN IGNORANCE AND MEDIOCRITY” in which less educated become vulnerable target for manipulation

and production of approval, strategy of ”self-blame strengthen” to induce emotion in an individual that he/she alone is responsible for his/her position and, finally, strategy ”getting to know individuals better than they know themselves”

TO ESTABLISH FULL CONTROL AND POWER OVER HUMAN BEHAVIOR. It all happens under the auspices of SIMULATED DEMOCRACY.

THIS IS WHAT WE CALL DEMOCRACY OR CRAWLING TOTALITARIANISM ON THE GLOBAL SCALE. In flagranti!

Some of these strategies can be identified on the example of manufactured refugee and immigrant crisis or Migration Period

    1. Prologue

The trust in progress and continuation of modernization has led us into a new huge transformation of the world. Changes in all spheres of life have occured under the influence of highly developed information and communication technologies.

THEY HAVE PAVED THE WAY FOR GLOBALIZATION AS THE PROCESS OF CONNECTING THE WORLD AS WELL AS RESHAPING IT INTO A ”GLOBAL VILLAGE”. Romantic fervor and faith in globalization have gradually diminished. Political realism, as well as every other, currently abates such romantic fervor and optimism.

It is evident now that anti-globalization movements have not been led by people standing on the other side of the barricade but by mighty structures which even finance movements to prevent them from crossing the line and putting everything in danger. And that is also part of the power play! The power play (technological, military, economic, informatic, media, cultural and metacultural) has indicated uneven effects of globalization, precarious balance in favor of heterogenous oligarchy, unequal distribution of wealth, uncontrolled global risk society, enormous demographic changes, mass economic and forced migrations.

RECONSTRUCTION OF THE BALKANS IN THE AGE OF GLOBALIZATION: Power play and the power of play

The time in which we live is marked by evergrowing influence of knowledge, information and technology, globalism and globalization as a new integration of the world at the turn of the century. It can be denoted as the postmodern condition, second modernity or liquid modernity.

    ·         Lost in the political macro cosmos of EU

1 July 2015   The text offers a short blogosphere anatomy of a condition which I hope will turn out as a temporary failure. I intend to analyse values and provide rational guidelines for further action…

    Snippet

Two years ago, political microcosm called Croatia has become a part of political macrocosm called the EU or the Eurosphere as a political construction of second modernity in a globalized world. And that is not irrelevant as well! THE REPUBLIC OF CROATIA BECAME A FULL MEMBER STATE OF THE EU TODAY, ON 1 JULY AD 2013.

From that day on, in terms of phenomenological sociology focused on the analysis of everyday life, there are only few things that indicate the fact that the Republic of Croatia forms part of the everyday political reality of the EU or the Eurosphere. Croatia acts as if it is not a member of the EU and experiences serious problems with semiotics and its own interpretation to which political space does it belong. It affiliates with the Region and lives in an undefined interspace between the EU (Eurosphere) and the Region as a newly constructed imaginary geography of depersonalized states.

    snippet…

It is a society that resembles a group of collectors of empty bottles in which there are more collectors than bottles to be found. We are not talking about a minor and insignificant sociological fact but rather an alarming one! We are talking about a poor society, a wretched and almost declassed middle class, mighty oligarchy or profiteers from war and economic transition being regarded as new pillars of society. Features of such society lost in political macrocosm of the EU (Eurosphere) include inefficient and slow public administration, high unemployment rate (in April 2015 it amounted to 17.5% or 310 936), mass emigration of younger population (around 48 000 recently emigrated) with European Comission forecast stating that 166-217 thousand of the most educated will leave the country in seven years from now on. It is a society sentenced to demographic deterioration and disappearance unless dystopian tendencies finally stop. Meanwhile prominent politicians holding executive power communicate poorly or not at all. This relates to the lack of communication from the PM and the president as well as irrational discussions on historical issues without any willingness and wish to move toward the future.

Awaken slaves! – How The Private Central Bank Ponzi Scheme Trapped And Destroyed America

    By Michael Rivero

Once upon a time, in 1913, a corrupt Congress and a corrupt President transferred the money creation authority vested in the government by the Constitution to a private central bank. It was going to be called the Third Bank of the United States. Such a fundamental change to the nation’s economy should have required a Constitutional Amendment. But earlier that same year, there had been a huge fight to ratify another Amendment, the 16th Amendment authorizing the income tax, and there is good reason to suspect that the 16th Amendment actually failed ratification even though the payers of that income tax were told otherwise.

“I think if you were to go back and and try to find and review the ratification of the 16th amendment, which was the internal revenue, the income tax, I think if you went back and examined that carefully, you would find that a sufficient number of states never ratified that amendment.” – U.S. District Court Judge James C. Fox, Sullivan Vs. United States, 2003.

Getting yet another Amendment ratified against such opposition, or worse, having to cheat one through, would be extremely difficult.

Then there was a problem with the proposed name, “Third Bank of the United States”, as it reminded people of the predations of the First and Second Bank of the United States.

“Gentlemen! I too have been a close observer of the doings of the Bank of the United States. I have had men watching you for a long time, and am convinced that you have used the funds of the bank to speculate in the breadstuffs of the country. When you won, you divided the profits amongst you, and when you lost, you charged it to the bank. You tell me that if I take the deposits from the bank and annul its charter I shall ruin ten thousand families. That may be true, gentlemen, but that is your sin! Should I let you go on, you will ruin fifty thousand families, and that would be my sin! You are a den of vipers and thieves. I have determined to rout you out, and by the Eternal, (bringing his fist down on the table) I will rout you out!” — Andrew Jackson, shortly before ending the charter of the Second Bank of the United States. From the original minutes of the Philadelphia committee of citizens sent to meet with President Jackson (February 1834), according to Andrew Jackson and the Bank of the United States (1928) by Stan V. Henkels

Shortly after President Jackson (the only American President to actually pay off the National Debt) ended the Second Bank of the United States, there was an attempted assassination.

    But I digress.

Faced with the possibility that a new Amendment to transfer money creation from the US Government to a privately owned bank might fail and fail badly, and with the name “Third Bank of the United States” already leading to opposition to the plan, the plotters did an end run around the Constitution, passing the Federal Reserve act over Christmas vacation when the members of Congress opposed to the bill would be away. The name of the new bank was then changed to “The Federal Reserve.” But, it is a private bank, no more “Federal” than Federal Express. From that moment on all currency would enter circulation as a loan at interest.

“I am a most unhappy man. I have unwittingly ruined my country. A great industrial nation is now controlled by its system of credit. We are no longer a government by free opinion, no longer a government by conviction and the vote of the majority, but a government by the opinion and duress of a small group of dominant men.” — Woodrow Wilson 1919

Ironically enough, this was the very system of banking the American Revolution was fought to free us from.

“The refusal of King George 3rd to allow the colonies to operate an honest money system, which freed the ordinary man from the clutches of the money manipulators, was probably the prime cause of the revolution.” — Benjamin Franklin, Founding Father

Starting in 1913, public schools stopped teaching about King George’s Currency Act, which ordered the American colonies to conduct business only using bank notes borrowed at interest from the Bank of England, and since then American students are taught that the revolution was about Tea Parties and Stamp Acts, lest the more clever students wonder how we ended up back in the same banking system that led to the first revolution.

The Founding Fathers understood how dangerous such banking systems are, and I will try to teach you here what the public schools are forbidden to let you know. The Federal Reserve system is a deliberate trap, to enslave a population to unpayable debt in order to control and exploit them, and here is how it works.

Before any commerce can happen, currency must go into circulation. Someone has to borrow it from that private central bank. The borrower can be government, a business, another bank, or ordinary citizens using credit cards, car loans, or mortgages. For the purposes of clarity, we will use a single dollar to represent that initial borrowing from the central bank. For the purpose of this illustration, “borrower” refers collectively to the entire American nation.

That dollar now enters circulation, passing from the original borrower to others, as payment for labor, in exchange for raw materials, as taxes, and so forth. Round and round it goes, passing from hand to hand, yet it is still a note borrowed from the Central Bank and it is still accruing interest. That Central Bank note, or (in the United States) Federal Reserve Note, is not a unit of value, it is a unit of debt.

At some point, that dollar is repaid to the Central Bank. The Central Bank then demands the interest. In our case, a nickle. But there is a problem. That nickle doesn’t exist and it never did. It is imaginary.

So now the borrower has to borrow another dollar, out of which he takes a nickle to pay for the interest on the first dollar.

The rest of that second borrowed dollar now goes into circulation, but this time, only 95 cents is in circulation to pass from borrower to vendor to employee to grocery store to government, then back to the Central Bank.

The borrower goes back to the Central Bank to repay that second dollar, but only has 95 cents, plus he owes that imaginary five cents interest as well, or ten cents.

Once more the borrower has to borrow a new dollar from the Central Bank, only this time he has to take a dime out of that new dollar to hand bank to the banker. The borrower walks out of the bank with only 90 cents to put into circulation, while still owing a whole dollar plus five cents interest.

The cycle keeps repeating over and over with each new loan having to return more and more back to the Central bank as accumulated interest.

With each cycle the Central Banks gets richer while there is less and less currency available for commerce. People have to tighten their belts. Works are let go. Sales slow down. “Austerity” is imposed.

Eventually, a point is reached where as much accumulated interest is owed as the money being borrowed. So the borrower now has to borrow twice as much from the Central Bank merely to have the same actual currency in circulation as when they started. The Central Bank system only operates as long as the borrower is willing to go deeper and deeper into debt, and debt slavery. This is what makes the Central Bank scheme a pyramid system. It works only so long as ever-larger new generations of borrowers can be found to allow new currency to enter circulation, out of which the interest on the older loans is paid. And of course, by design, the debt can never ever be paid off. Once that first paper note is loaned into circulation, total debt will always exceed total currency. The system is designed that way, to keep you in debt, to keep you a slave to the bankers.

This is the reason that every nation on Earth with such a Central Bank is now drowning in debt. The Federal Reserve, the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the European Central Bank, are all built on this same system. This is why nations that refuse such banking systems are made war on.

“Either the application for renewal of the charter is granted, or the United States will find itself involved in a most disastrous war.” — Nathan Mayor Rothschild, angered at the refusal of Congress to renew the charter for the First Bank of the United States in 1811. Congress stood firm and Britain, goaded to “recolonize” America by the Bank of England, headed at the time by Lionel de Rothschild, launched the war of 1812.”If this mischievous financial policy, which has its origin in North America, shall become endurated down to a fixture, then that Government will furnish its own money without cost. It will pay off debts and be without debt. It will have all the money necessary to carry on its commerce. It will become prosperous without precedent in the history of the world. The brains, and wealth of all countries will go to North America. That country must be destroyed or it will destroy every monarchy on the globe.” — The London Times responding to Lincoln’s decision to issue government Greenbacks to finance the Civil War, rather that agree to private banker’s loans at 30% interest. Following Lincoln’s assassination, the Greenbacks were taken out of circulation.

On June 4, 1963, President John F. Kennedy signed Executive Order 11110, which authorized the US Treasury to issue “United States Notes, backed by silver, so that the American people would not have to borrow federal Reserve Notes at interest. Five months later Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas Texas, the US Notes were taken out of circulation, and John J. McCloy, President of the Chase Manhattan Bank, and President of the World Bank, was named to the Warren Commission, presumably to make certain the financial dimensions behind the assassination were never made public.

And what did it cost the Central Banks to wield such power over nations? Paper and ink, or today a few keystrokes on a keyboard. In fact the practices of the Central Bank would be felonies under the United States Coinage Act of 1792, which declared debasement of the gold and silver-backed currency of the United States a death penalty offence.

The Central Bank knows that those pieces of paper with ink are worthless. But while the Central Bank can just create those paper notes out of thin air (legalized counterfeiting), you may not. In order to pay that ever-growing debt you have to do what you are told to do by those who have some of those pieces of paper to hand out tell you to do. Work long hours. Invade a foreign nation that refuses to have a Private Central Bank. Torture innocent people to death to find weapons of mass destruction that do not exist to justify a war. Compromise your morals and integrity. Perform sexual favors. Whatever the purveyors of those pieces of paper want, you must do. That paper note is your slave chain.

Even worse, as the imaginary debt piles higher and there is less and less currency in circulation, people start to become desperate to obtain those pieces of paper with colored ink on them to pay off that debt they have been tricked into believing they owe to the private central bankers. Over time, more and more moral accomodations become accepted by society in exchange for the acquisition of those pieces of paper with ink on them. Manufacturers start cutting corners, producing shoddy products that break and wear out. Food companies start using more cheap fillers. Pharmaceutical companies produce medicines of dubious efficacy and definite harm. Society turns brutal and predates on itself. Manufacturers come to want bad products that break easilyso people will buy more. The medical establishment comes to desire a sickly population because they cannot make money off of a healthy people. Food companies add addictive chemicals to food to make people buy and eat more. Wall Street comes to see fraud as a legitimate business tactic. Eventually immorality and unethical business behavior becomes the accepted social norm. Under the mounting illusion of debt society drifts into outright criminality perpetrated by everyone against everyone. From there it is a short step to seeing war and conquest of other nations’ weath as the only remaining solution to the debt problem. In short, the predations of private central banking lure society into trading what is best in human nature in exchange for those paper and ink tickets until civilization itself is at risk.

Private Central Banking is not about banking, or even about money. It is about Control. Private Central Banking is about rule by enforced servitude to artificially created debt. No different from other hoaxes played by the rich on the poor, such as Rule by Divine Right, or Rule by Chattel Ownership of your Body (slavery). As a human civilization we have outgrown these hoaxes and realize they are illegitimate forms of governance. So too shall it be with Rule by Debt. Those previous systems only worked as long as the subjugated population believed that those systems were real; the way the world was supposed to be. When the people broke free of the slavery of belief, those forms of enslavement collapsed. For the few to feel rich, everyone else must be poor. As the availability of currency declines, it does not matter how hard people are willing to work; there must inevitably be homeless, joblessness, hunger, and wars of conquest to “balance the books.”

Modern banking is not a science. It is a religion, simply a set of arbitrary rules and assumptions that favor the masters of that belief system, which we are brainwashed in school to think is something tangible and real.

It is time to stop, while we still can.

We have outgrown Rule by Divine Right and recognize slavery as inherently wrong.

Now is the time for the next step in our societies evolution in which the money must serve the people, rather than the people serve the money.

Central Banks are a failed experiment. Look at the devastation of Europe, or your own home town and you will see it.

The common enemy of all humankind are Private Central Banks issuing the public currency as a loan at interest.

    The Civilian Conservation Corps
Olympic NP: Historic Resource Study (Chapter 5)
Camp Elwha. Among the most active CCC camps within the present Olympic National Park was Camp Elwha, located on a gently sloping hillside several hundred yards south of the present Elwha Ranger Station. As one of the first CCC camps established on the north Olympic Peninsula, the arrival of the “forest army” on the Elwha River aroused great interest among local residents. On 10 June 1933 the Port Angeles Evening News devoted headline space and several columns to describing the establishment of the Elwha Camp, known as F-17:
Two hundred and twenty strong, the 936th company Civilian Conservation Corps of the United States is in camp on “My Rose” creek up the Elwha canyon, within a stone’s throw of the soldiers’ bridge—and taking part in the greatest single government venture these parts have glimpsed since spruce division days of the world war. . . . In a tented city now, the “new forestry army” is rapidly completing a modern and elaborate camp headquarters in a clearing between Griff and My Rose creeks. On the site, 100,000 board feet of lumber is rapidly taking shape in the form of barracks, headquarters buildings, infirmary, dining hall, store room, camp exchange, etc., and District Forester Vallad announced today that construction would also begin immediately on a bunkhouse, warehouse and oil storage plant for the regular Forest Service (PAEN 1933, 10 June).
The work program outlined for both the main Elwha Camp and the side camp at Slab Camp in the hills southeast of Port Angeles included the construction of roads from the Elwha Ranger Station to Hayes River (on the Elwha River); from Danz Ranch at the forest boundary to Deer Park lookout, to Ennis Creek Ranger Station, and then to the Lost Mountain Road; and from the Little River Road to Ennis Creek Ranger Station. Work plans also called for the widening and straightening of the Olympic (Boulder Creek) Hot Springs Road plus the improvement of several campgrounds (PAEN 1933, 10 June).
A month later, in mid July, the tents at the Elwha CCC Camp were gone and the headquarters for the 180-man company had taken on the look of permanence. Added to the original cluster of camp buildings were four 104 x 22 foot barracks structures, a mess hall, an administration building, a bathhouse with a “Niagara Falls” shower and ancillary workshops and storage buildings. Road projects were also proceeding with haste. By mid July, one and one-half miles of road were completed to Glines Canyon, and road crews were pushing toward Heart O’the Hills. The local press noted, “The road jobs now being carried forward by the CCC crews in the Elwha forest district will effect improvements of vital importance to [the] protection of Olympic timber from fire” (PAEN 1933, 19 July).
The morale of the first recruitment of Elwha CCC enrollees was exceptionally high. According to journalistic accounts, every member of the fledgling camp claimed that “Elwha camp has the finest crew of any in the country” (PAEN 1933, 19 July). In the early months of operation, there were reportedly few withdrawals; the men were healthy and spirits exuberant. One reason for this initial good spirit at the Elwha Camp may be attributed to the high percentage of enrollees from Clallam County, Seattle, and Bellingham, Washington. These men were fairly familiar and comfortable with the surroundings (PAEN 1933, 19 July). Unlike many CCC camps across the country that consisted of men transported great distances to their place of assignment, the early Elwha CCC camp was comprised of men almost exclusively from western Washington.
At the end of the first six month recruitment period, the esprit de corps continued to remain high as demonstrated by the great percentage of reenlistments and the reported accomplishments of the company. In late September 1933, the Port Angeles Evening News stated:
What is believed to be a probable record for Civilian Conservation Corps units in Washington is reported from the C.C.C. Camp on the Elwha river, where 91 per cent of the present force has re-enrolled for the second six month’s work period starting in October. . . . This is [sic] an exceptional mark! It indicates how the C.C.C. men and boys of the Elwha feel toward their camp and the opportunity the corps has given them to earn their living and help their families financially, in addition, corps leaders feel (PAEN 1933, 21 September).
Road building projects, which was to be the major thrust of Camp Elwha’s energies, continued unabated. By mid September 1933, a five-mile section of “truck trail” was completed up the Elwha River to Wolf Creek. A second major project involving road connections with the CCC Slab Camp/Danz Ranch, was likewise pushing forward (PAEN 1933, 21 September). Far from any roads, the CCC undertook the construction of a four-horse, shake-sided barn at Elkhorn Ranger Station during the summer of 1933 (UW 1934, 20 August).
By early 1934, twenty-two miles of road were completed by the Elwha CCC crews. A small crew was about to begin widening the road to Olympic (Boulder Creek) Hot Springs. Fifty men, still located at the Danz Ranch side camp, worked on roads to Deer Park and to Ennis Creek. A newly established side camp at Heart O’the Hills had thirty-five men engaged in building a thoroughfare from Heart O’the Hills to Coleman’s Ranch on the Little River. The road building projects accomplished by the crews from Camp Elwha aimed at providing the Forest Service with “a continuous roadway from the Elwha River to Slab Camp and the Deer Park region by way of Little River, Mount Angeles and Ennis creek” (PAEN 1934, 6 January). New telephone connections that eventually followed this route, plus the roads themselves, were principally for fire protection purposes.
At the outset of 1934 other projects, in addition to the construction of roads, were in progress or planned. These projects included the installation of a water and light system at the Elwha CCC Camp, and the construction of a new Ennis Creek Guard Station on the Mount Angeles Road near Heart O’the Hills. In addition, work on public campgrounds on the Elwha River at Lake Mills, Whiskey Bend and Altaire, was planned (PAEN 1934, 6 January).
Civilian Conservation Corps camps typically were located and relocated depending on the priority of work projects in a particular geographic area. Under the direction of the Forest Service, CCC camps and side camps on the Olympic National Forest were moved on several occasions during the 1930s. One year after the establishment of CCC Camp Elwha, orders were issued to abandon the campsite and relocate to a site seven and one-half miles north of Humptulips in the southern end of the Olympic Peninsula. (CCC Camp Snider, west of Lake Crescent, and Camp Twin, on the Strait of Juan de Fuca coast, west of Port Angeles, also shifted their companies in 1934.) While the corpsmen at Elwha made preparation for their move to Humptulips

in May, other CCC crews from the Louella CCC Camp near Sequim, took over completion of the road to Deer Park (PAEN 1934, 3 April). In recognition of the efforts of the CCC in completing the winding Deer Park Road, it became known as “The Highway of the CCC” (Carroll 1973, 103).
The phase out of CCC Camp Elwha was only temporary. In late September 1934 official announcement came from the Forest Service regional office in Portland, Oregon, that the abandoned but intact Elwha Camp (as well as the Snider and Twin Camps) would be restored to activity in October that year. During the winter months of 1934 and 1935, the Elwha CCC Camp was among fifteen National Forest Service camps in the state of Washington (PAEN 1934, 24 September).
For three years in the late 1930s Camp Elwha was used only at intervals as a small side camp (PAEN 1937, 16 July). Only sporadically CCC corpsmen continued to undertake projects on Forest Service land in the vicinity of the Elwha River drainage.

In the spring of 1935 “improvements” were made to both the Elwha and Altaire public campgrounds. Betterments at these two campgrounds included work on roads, trails, camping spots, the installation of water pipes, playground equipment, horse-shoe courts for adults, and the construction of sturdy, open-sided community kitchens.

The Port Angeles Evening News exuded enthusiasm in its description of the improvements at Altaire Campground made by the CCC: “There’s a splendid community kitchen, of rustic design, with a concrete floor and two 54-inch stoves built of rock and cement. There are long tables beside the kitchen and about the grounds are 17 tables and sufficient stoves, all constructed of stone, to take care of as many parties as the tables accommodate” (PAEN 1935, 27 March).
The Elwha and Altaire community kitchens, in 1983, are the only two remaining CCC structures of this type in Olympic National Park. Built of natural peeled logs, shakes and masonry, the rustic materials and careful proportioning of these structures blend well with their immediate natural surroundings.

The Elwha and Altaire community kitchens are representative examples of rustic style architecture, which became a hallmark of the CCC throughout the country (Throop 1979, 58).
When a large contingency of CCC enrollees transferred from Camp Snider several miles west of Lake Crescent, to Camp Elwha in the spring of 1937, additional campground development was undertaken at Olympic (Boulder Creek) Hot Springs, Deer Park and Ennis Creek, at the base of Mount Angeles.

In addition CCC crews made further improvements to the Olympic Hot Springs Road

and the Hurricane Ridge Road. Work crews at Deer Park, an Elwha side camp, pursued work on a new ski run and completed an addition to the Deer Park Camp building to accommodate winter ski parties (PAEN 1937, 21 April; 16 July).
During the CCC’s tenure at Camp Elwha several changes and additions were made by corpsmen to the existing Forest Service Elwha Ranger Station buildings. Eleven buildings stood at the ranger station site at the time the CCC established their camp nearby in 1933. Among the first projects undertaken by the Elwha CCC enrollees was the construction of a porch on the main ranger station building (PAEN 1933, 19 July). Two years later, in 1935, the ranger station was moved slightly, an addition was constructed and landscaping around the ranger station completed (PAEN 1935, 27 March). During the mid 1930s, corpsmen from the Elwha Camp worked on other projects at the ranger station. On Griff Creek, separating the CCC camp from the ranger station, CCC men built a water wheel to furnish electricity to the ranger station office and ranger residence (PAEN 1934, 21 March). Near the ranger station office, an incinerator was constructed for burning refuse from the CCC camp and public campgrounds in the area. The erection of the gas, oil and grease rack building in the utility area represented the largest outlay of CCC manpower and money at the Elwha Ranger Station (PAEN 1935, 27 March). It is the only building built totally by CCC labor in the ranger station complex that stands on its original site. The decorative pine tree design, used throughout the nation as the logo of both the Forest Service and the Civilian Conservation Corps, is cut out of boards on the porch and at the upper gable ends of this building (Throop 1979, 42). It symbolizes and serves as a constant visual reminder of the contribution of the CCC to the Elwha Ranger Station.
In addition to visible structural changes completed at the Elwha Ranger Station and elsewhere, the construction and maintenance of roads, and the development of campground facilities in forests on the north Olympic Peninsula, Forest Service Camp F-19 on the Elwha River planned and executed numerous other projects between 1933 and 1938.

Elwha corpsmen constructed and maintained trails, built bridges, erected signs and markers, conducted surveys, constructed fences and guard rails, laid and maintained telephone lines, built parking areas and parking overlooks, razed “undesirable” structures, suppressed fires and conducted field plantings (NARS:RG 95 1934, 1 June; 1937, 6 August; ca. 1938 n.d.).

The exact geographic locations of many Camp Elwha projects are not always readily identifiable and, in fact, much of their work has been obliterated over the years. However, the overall effect of the various CCC projects undertaken by the Elwha Camp is very much a part of the overall development of recreational use in certain areas in the northern part of Olympic National Park.
The work of the Elwha CCC Camps is not unique but, in fact, is representative of the kinds of projects pursued by several other work camps supervised by the National Forest Service on the Olympic Peninsula. Prior to the 1938 creation of Olympic National Park, other CCC main camps and side camps located on Forest Service land around the Peninsula likewise stimulated recreational activity in areas now contained in the Park.

THIS IS MY DAD’S INSIDE STORY

    By GEORGE C. RAINS SR.

THE WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE AND WHY OUR FAMILY WAS LIVING INSIDE OF THE OLYMPIC NATIONAL PARK AT SOL DUC HOT SPRINGS ON 320 ACRES OF PRIVATE PROPERTY IN THE FALL OF 1944.

    LIVING THE AMERICAN DREAM

In the year of 1944 I was employed at the Quillayute Naval Air Station doing plumbing maintenance work.
While working there I became interested in the Sol Due Hot Springs area which involved 320 acres of private land.

The Hot Springs resort property had remained idle for some period of time, and the more I thought about it, I asked myself -¬why not find out if the property was for sale and what the asking price was.

I contacted Mrs. Mirza Martin in Seattle, Washington, then owner of the Sol Due Hot Springs to see if the property was for sale, and she informed me that it was. I had $500.00 in savings banks, and I thought I would use this money to obtain an option to purchase the Sol Due property. By putting up the $500.00 for option money, an arrangement was worked out with Mrs. Mirza Martin and her attorney to purchase the property for $70,000.00. Payments annually would be $7,500.00 including principle and interest until the contract was paid in full. Down. payment was $21,000.00.

Money was very scarce during these times, and I had to hitchhike to Seattle to work out the deal with Mrs. Mirza Martin and her attorney.

On one occasion I had to take the late last ferry from Seattle to Port Ludlow. It so happened no automobiles on the ferry were going to Port Angeles, so I started walking from Port Ludlow to Port Angeles. By daylight the next morning after walking all night I finally made it to Blyn, W A. A car finally came along and I got a ride to Port Angeles.

I decided to form a corporation to handle the purchase matter of the Sol Due Hot Springs property. I hired Mr. W. F. Phillips, attorney, who was upstairs in the old Eagles Bldg. at the time, to draw up the incorporation papers. I hitchhiked to Olympia, Washington to see that the incorporation papers were properly filed. Hitchhiking from Olympia back to Port Angeles, I became stranded in Hoodsport and had to spend the night there.

I finally located three other gentlemen and their wives who were interested in the purchase
and operation of the Sol Due Hot Springs Resort property. I contacted my uncle and aunt
in Seattle, Mr. and Mrs. George W. Hancock; Mr. and Mrs. O.B. Tully, and Mr. and Mrs.
Roy Stafford. The four of us agreed to each subscribe to the purchase of 25 percent of the
    incorporation stock.

The purchase was made and we started the resort operation in 1944.

THIS IS MY FAIRY TALE  INSIDE STORY how I found my park in 1944, as described above, how my park found me, living inside of my Olympic National Park when I was three years old.

Arriving at Sol Duc Hot Springs in 1944, is one of my first memories, it was freezing cold and the ground was white…. I thought it was snow. Mom said it was just thick frost.

So there I was with my family, at Sol Duc Hot Springs, in the Sol Duc Valley surrounded by my park.

It was the beginning of my enchanted fairy tale childhood and it lasted for almost nine years.

What an ideal way to spend my childhood, nine years, 1944-1953 living in a Sol Duc Hot Springs Resort rustic, charming, four room cabin built by the Martin brothers in 1921.

How rustic and charming was our cabin? We had only cold running water, , a big wood range in the kitchen, with a screened wooden cooler for food, a bathroom with no bath tub (we took our baths and did our laundry in hot mineral in the basement of the store) We had another wood stove in the front room. The back porch was a woodshed with a kids swing. Electricity was provided by a waterwheel . We had no telephone and one radio with one radio station.

How rustic was our cabin? Well, by today’s standards…pretty rustic…

We had the wild bears that ripped off the screened wooden food cooler on our kitchen and dumped over garbage cans on a regular basis.

we had raccoon’s, Bantam Chickens and SKUNKS living and fighting under our cabin.

We had wild deer that took apples from our hands at our kitchen window.

Our rustic Sol Duc cabin was surrounded by towering cottonwood, evergreens trees and an additional 87 rustic cabins built by the Martin brothers in 1921.
    —————————————————————————-

As Dad said, Money was very scarce during these times…

I don’t remember being poor, but I’m guessing we were poor and lived very frugally. Mom made all of our clothes, we got two pair of shoes a year, winter shoes in the fall and summer sandals and a new dress (one of my dresses was made out of silk from a World war II parachute) for EASTER. Making it do in World War two, we had skirts of raw silk too.

In the summer, my winter shoes, with the toes cut out, because they were too small, became my CREEK SHOES.

I didn’t own a store bought doll until I was eight years old. My two sisters and I shared one homemade doll called “Fatty”

I don’t remember any toys? I don’t think they had been invented yet…

We looked on the ground for and collected tax tokens, three of them equaled one penny.
one penny would buy candy. (they were green plastic or aluminum)

There was so much more, than being poor…  Like living a wonderful fairy tale.
    —————————————————–
A bit of history WA State has always been TAXING
Washington state caused a stir when their tax laws were passed and implemented on May 21, 1935. The US government and treasury department filed suit against the state of Washington claiming THE USE OF SALES TAX TOKENS AS AN ASSAULT ON US COINAGE. The governor of Washington refused to back down and the issue was tabled by the government.
    ——————————————————————————–

Back to sharing my inside story, living inside my park.

MY FAVORITE MEMORIES, OF PEOPLE, PLACES AND THINGS

It was unbelievably, wonder- full, delightful, wet, exciting and wild living on 320 acres of private property. (kind of like a fairy tale)

    A PRIVATE POOL
In 1944, after my mother removed years and tons of accumulated leaves with a wheel barrow from the little pool, we had our own private small hot mineral swimming pool that winter and every winter after…

    —————–
    THE WONDERFUL DAYS OF SUMMER
When Sol Duc Hot Springs was opened to and for PUBLIC USE
    Every rustic cabin was full
The two swimming pools were full of splash happy people
It was affordable for every working family
Some family’s had a standing reservation for the same cabin every year
Parking areas were full and over flowing
The community kitchen and the surrounding area accommodated hundreds
Campers Camped at the affordable Olympic National Park, Sol Duc Camp ground
Fishing for trout in the Olympic National Park was a huge tourist attraction.

    ————————————————————————
BACK THEN THERE WERE STILL FISH TO FISH FOR IN OLYMPIC NATIONAL PARK
Hikers hiked to the lakes to fish, Fisherman and fisher-boys fished in the Seven Lakes Basin (actually eight) Sol duc, Long, Lunch, Morgenroth, No Name, Clear, Round, and Lake No. 8.  Other lakes are encountered along the way are not considered part of “seven lakes” include Heart Lake, Deer Lake and Mink Lake.

And, the old folks, woman and little kids stayed at Sol Duc Resort and went swimming…
    —————————————————————
HOW DID THOSE TROUT EVERYBODY USED TO FISH FOR GET UP INTO THEM THAR HILLS?
Great question, I just found the answer three days ago on Jan 18,2016 …
During the summer of 1933 Snider CCC Camp enrollees worked with THE U.S. BUREAU OF FISHERIES AND THE STATE GAME COMMISSION TO PLANT 77,000 TROUT in the higher lakes and headwaters of streams in Clallam County THE CCC ASSISTED IN TRANSPORTING THESE FISH BY PACK HORSE TO REMOTE LOCATIONS IN THE OLYMPIC
    ———————————————————————————-
AS INHOLDERS OUR FAMILY LIVED INSIDE OF THE OLYMPIC NATIONAL PARK EVEN IN 1944 INHOLDERS WERE SUBJECT TO NATIONAL PARK RULES AND LAWS

    —————————————-
I don’t know exactly how old I was when I realized that living inside my park had drawbacks. When I noticed the look on my parents faces when they heard the rumble of the Park Ranger, two gun Merrill’s car crossing the bridge?

It only happened, you could only hear the rumble of a vehicle crossing the bridge and echoing through the valley, when Sol Doc Hot Springs was closed for the winter.

What did I know and when? I was just a little kid…

    —————————————–

When I was older, I knew why the Park Ranger, two gun Merrill showed up.. and I DID NOT LIKE HIM.

It was illegal to shoot off fireworks in every National Park, even on your own 320 acres of private land.

If we saw him, we knew he was on our private land to inspect, to see what was going on, Two Gun Merrill was there to force and/or enforce National Park laws and rules, including writing tickets for violations.

Fun and games on the Fourth of July, you bet. There was only one park ranger. In the summer time there were lots of kids, even kids with cars. Kids like to shoot off fire crackers, this is the game of tag that we played with Two Gun Merrill. It was about a mile from behind the big pool to the community kitchen . So, we kids, would shoot off a bunch of fireworks behind the big pool… Two Gun Merrill would come running.. Then we kids would jump in the car and go down to the community kitchen and shoot off more fireworks. Back and forth, laughing our heads off.

How old was I? just a kid… OLD ENOUGH TO REMEMBER.
    ————————————————————————————

When I was older, I kind of sort of figured out why the Park Ranger, two gun Merrill showed up in the winter time . It was illegal to shoot off guns/firearms in every National Park, even on your own 320 acres of private land.

As Dad said, Money was very scarce during these times…
Feeding a family of six was expensive.
I knew what the sound of an echoing firecracker/gunshot would do.
I never saw the illegal shooting or dressing of a deer, But I’m sure our family, by definition ate camp meat: illegal venison.
    ———————————————————

BACK WHEN THERE WERE STILL FISH TO FISH FOR IN OLYMPIC NATIONAL PARK

BEFORE THE TROUT WERE ELIMINATE BY THE NATIONAL PARK SERVICE, TO PROTECT THE NOT SO ENDANGERED SPECIES LIKE LONG TOED SALAMANDERS AND FROGS

Dad went fishing for trout up in the Seven Lake Basin.

We had a walk in freezer up at the Sol Duc Store.
As a kid, I ate a lot of free trout when I lived in my, Olympic National Park
    ——————————————————————————
HOW DID OLYMPIC NATIONAL PARK RANGER, “TWO GUN MERRILL”

GET HIS NAME? URBAN LEGEND HAS IT..
THAT IN AN ATTEMPTED QUICK DRAW PRACTICE, HE ACCIDENTLY SHOT OFF ONE OF HIS TOES
An urban legend is a secondhand story, alleged to be true
and just plausible enough to be believed

    The full unedited text

    Received , December 19, 2015 8:35 AM
    Subject: ,,,,,, A German’s View

    Shabbot shalom,
How this piece will affect you is not in my hands. I hope it’s wisdom does have its good effect. Otherwise we remain more dangerously asleep then we had before we read it. We either respond to our first nature, and dig in our heals to not move, or we meditate, asking favor from our engaging LORD, our Father, as to our right part in the encroaching war that is more boldly consuming the world politic with bloody results.
To each one of us a response, wisely guided by His Spirit, is required, and you will know that a response is in no uncertain terms required as you read this man’s observations of the certain and consistent diabolical results that occur upon our necks by our personal responses. Each one of us, to prevent the occurring encroach of violence is called on to engage in this war wisely.
Thus the future is not in leaders hands, but in our own. Have we not heard, that when good men do nothing, we encourage violence against the innocent? There is no face sitting, as this article shouts from the roof top. To think otherwise we remain as given over to our enemies as did the fallen who took no heed before us.
What therefore is our part? If we can not ask that question without full reverence in light of our maker, of what are we but spent salt waiting to be trodden under, as the billions who continued in intoxicating inertia- the deadly drug, our enemies ever succeed by, “when good men do nothing”. Eventually only Maker, He, like our enemy, never sleeps, can help those whose talents are purposefully not buried by our default mode, our violent indifference. Sleep is hate in this war as in all wars. Our avoidance is a hateful purposed response.
Love in His purpose, for our re-engagement for that is the only thing that love looks like,
Someone else wrote of this man’s observations in part,

“This is one of the best explanations of the Muslim terrorist situation I have ever read. His references to past history are accurate and clear- (by) Dr. Emanuel Tanya, a well-known and well-respected psychiatrist. A man, whose family was German aristocracy prior to World War II, owned a number of large industries and estates. When asked how many German people were true Nazis, the answer he gave can guide our attitude toward fanaticism.”
‘Very few people were true Nazis,’ he said, ‘but many enjoyed the return of German pride, and many more were too busy to care.
I was one of those who just thought the Nazis were a bunch of fools. So, the majority just sat back and let it all happen. Then, before we knew it, they owned us, and we had lost
control, and the end of the world had come.’

‘My family lost everything. I ended up in a concentration camp and the Allies
    destroyed my factories.’ ”
‘We are told again and again by ‘experts’ and ‘talking heads’ that Islam is a
religion of peace and that the vast majority of Muslims just want to live in
peace. Although this unqualified assertion may be true, it is entirely
irrelevant. It is meaningless fluff meant to make us feel better, and meant to
somehow diminish the spectre of fanatics rampaging across the globe in the name
    of Islam.’

‘The fact is that the fanatics rule Islam at this moment in history. It is the
fanatics who march. It is the fanatics who wage any one of 50 shooting
wars worldwide. It is the fanatics who systematically slaughter Christian or
tribal groups throughout Africa and are gradually taking over the entire
continent in an Islamic wave. It is the fanatics who bomb, behead, murder, or
honor-kill. It is the fanatics who take over mosque after mosque. It is the
fanatics who zealously spread the stoning and hanging of rape victims and
homosexuals. It is the fanatics who teach their young to kill and to become
    suicide bombers.’
‘The hard, quantifiable fact is that the peaceful majority, the ‘silent
majority,’ is cowed and extraneous. Communist Russia was comprised of
Russians who just wanted to live in peace, yet the Russian Communists were
responsible for the murder of about 20 million people. The peaceful majority were irrelevant. China’s huge population was peaceful as well, but Chinese Communists managed to kill a staggering 70 million people.’

‘The average Japanese individual prior to World War II was not a warmongering
sadist. Yet, Japan murdered and slaughtered its way across South East Asia in an
orgy of killing that included the systematic murder of 12 million Chinese civilians; most killed by sword, shovel, and bayonet. And who can forget Rwanda, which collapsed into butchery? Could it not be said that the majority of Rwandans were ‘peace loving’?

‘History lessons are often incredibly simple and blunt, yet for all our powers
of reason, we often miss the most basic and uncomplicated of points:
peace-loving Muslims have been made irrelevant by their silence. Peace-loving
Muslims will become our enemy if they don’t speak up, because like my friend
from Germany , they will awaken one day and find that the fanatics own them, and
the end of their world will have begun.’

‘Peace-loving Germans, Japanese, Chinese, Russians, Rwandans, Serbs, Afghans,
Iraqis, Palestinians, Somalis, Nigerians, Algerians, and many others have died
because the peaceful majority did not speak up until it was too late.’
‘Now Islamic prayers have been introduced in Toronto and other public
schools in Ontario , and, yes, in Ottawa , too, while the Lord’s
Prayer was removed (due to being so offensive?). The Islamic way may be
peaceful for the time being in our country until the fanatics move in.’

‘In Australia , and indeed in many countries around the world, many of the most
commonly consumed food items have the halal emblem on them. Just look at the
back of some of the most popular chocolate bars, and at other food items in your
local supermarket. Food on aircraft have the halal emblem just to appease the
privileged minority who are now rapidly expanding within the nation’s shores.’
‘In the U.K, the Muslim communities refuse to integrate and there are now dozens
of “no-go” zones within major cities across the country that the police force
dare not intrude upon. Sharia law prevails there, because the Muslim
community in those areas refuse to acknowledge British law.’

‘As for us who watch it all unfold, we must pay attention to the only group that
counts – the fanatics who threaten our way of life.’

    Lastly,
anyone who doubts that the issue is serious and just deletes this email
without sending it on, is contributing to the passiveness that allows the
    problems to expand.

    This Guy Says a “LOT”

This is an unedited opinion of an American citizen. It is worth reading, Democratic or Republican, and it is worth sharing.

I had hoped that setting up a website would give “We the people” a condensed running forum, a day by day, blow by blow account from ANY American, State, County, city citizens that had knowledge or concerns?

Where anyone could go, read, find out, relate, expose, share and comment on anything.

    I received this email

re: “This Guy Says It All”

I am the Democratic and the Republican Liberal-Progressive’s worst nightmare. I am a White, Conservative, Tax-Paying, American Veteran, Gun Owning Biker. I am a Master leatherworker. I work hard and long hours with my hands to earn a living.

I believe in God and the freedom of religion, but I don’t push it on others. I ride Harley Davidson Motorcycles, drive American made cars, and I believe in American products and buy them whenever I can.

I believe the money I make belongs to me and not some liberal governmental functionary, Democratic or Republican, that wants to share it with others who don’t work!

I’m in touch with my feelings and I like it that way!

I think owning a gun doesn’t make you a killer; it makes you a smart American.

I think being a minority does not make you noble or victimized, and does not entitle you to anything. Get over it!

I believe that if you are selling me a Big Mac or any other item, you should do it in English.

I believe there should be no other language option.

I believe everyone has a right to pray to his or her God when and where they want to.

My heroes are Malcolm Forbes, Bill Gates, John Wayne, Babe Ruth, Roy Rogers, and Willie G. Davidson, who makes the awesome Harley Davidson Motorcycles.

I don’t hate the rich. I don’t pity the poor.

I know wrestling is fake and I don’t waste my time watching or arguing about it.

I’ve never owned a slave, nor was I a slave. I haven’t burned any witches or been persecuted by the Turks, and neither have you!

I believe if you don’t like the way things are here, go back to where you came from and change your own country!

This is AMERICA …We like it the way it is and more so the way it was…so stop trying to change it to look like Russia, China, or some other socialist country!

If you were born here and don’t like it…you are free to move to any Socialist country that will have you. I believe it is time to really clean house, starting with the White House, the seat of our biggest problems.

I want to know which church is it, exactly, where the Reverend Jesse Jackson preaches, where he gets his money, and why he is always part of the problem and not the solution? Can I get an AMEN on that one?

I also think the cops have the right to pull you over if you’re breaking the law, regardless of what color you are, but not just because you happen to ride a bike.

And, no, I don’t mind having my face shown on my driver’s license. I think it’s good. And I’m proud that ‘God’ is written on my money.

I think if you are too stupid to know how a ballot works, I don’t want you deciding who should be running the most powerful nation in the world for the next four years.

I dislike those people standing in the intersections trying to sell me stuff or trying to guilt me into making ‘donations’ to their cause. Get a job and do your part to support yourself and your family!

I believe that it doesn’t take a village to raise a child, it takes two parents.

I believe ‘illegal’ is illegal no matter what the lawyers think!

I believe the American flag should be the only one allowed in AMERICA!

If this makes me a BAD American, then yes, I’m a BAD American.

If you are a BAD American too, please forward this to everyone you know.

We want our country back! My Country. I hope this offends all illegal aliens.

My great, great, great, great grandfather watched and bled as his friends died in the Revolution and the War of 1812. My great, great, great grandfather watched as his friends died in the Mexican American War. My great, great grandfather watched as his friends and brothers died in the Civil War. My great grandfather watched as his friends died in the Spanish-American War. My grandfather watched, as his friends died in WW I. My father watched as his friends died in WW II.

I watched as my friends died in Vietnam, Panama, and Desert Storm. My son watched and bled as his friends died in Afghanistan and Iraq. None of them died for the Mexican Flag. Everyone died for the American flag.

Texas high school students raised a Mexican flag on a school flagpole and other students took it down. Guess who was expelled? The students who took it down.

California High School students were sent home on Cinco de Mayo, because they wore T-shirts with the American flag printed on them.

    Enough is enough

This message needs to be viewed by every American; and every American needs to stand up for America.

We’ve bent over to appease the America-haters long enough. I’m taking a stand.

I’m standing up because the hundreds of thousands who died fighting in wars for this country, and for the American flag.

If you agree, stand up with me. If you disagree, please let me know. I will gladly remove you from my e-mail list.

And shame on anyone who tries to make this a racist message.

AMERICANS, stop giving away Your RIGHTS!

Let me make this clear! THIS IS OUR COUNTRY! This statement DOES NOT mean I’m against immigration!

YOU ARE WELCOME HERE, IN OUR COUNTRY, welcome to come legally:

    7. NOW find a place to lay your head!

If you don’t want to forward this for fear of offending someone, then YOU’RE PART OF THE PROBLEM!

We’ve gone so far the other way . . . bent over backwards not to offend anyone.

Only AMERICANS seems to care when American Citizens are being offended!

    WAKE UP America!

If you do not pass this on, may your fingers cramp!

Olympic Pen and Quinault observation, published in 1997, by then undergraduate at UW, during the previous conflicts with environmentalist, logging, resources, spotted owl and social/political conflicts. JUST LIKE READING OUR DAILY NEWS TODAY, yet 97 still seems like yesterday. I wonder what this guy would have to say today, with the Land and Water Grabs, massive Conservation Movements, debris fed Wildland fires, Forest Service Sellout/Lockout of Public Lands, Federal/Tribal Partnership bed down, EW Wilderness Warfare, Jet Pollution

making sure we are UN micro monitored to quench their thirst, from Americas blood. PLUS the surround and attack set up now marking us a military hotspot target, by possible enemy attacks. A bullseye! Boots on the ground will continue to push their way around.
What would this guy say about our “new” thoroughfare out in the river? Building the “new Floodplain by Design”, creating a “new wetland” after destroying the natural flowing old one. The Congressional puppet show has to prove that “No Child Left Behinder’s” show some worth, by giving those inexperienced “new” graduates a chance to try out their “new learned skills” acquired from “new” computer modeling software and with “new” 21st century “what if” speculations. In some instances incomplete assumptions altogether, can result in unnecessary irreparable damage . Mother nature doesn’t always work in structural regularity or conduct itself by the books. Science? Science has taken on a peculiar detour in definition. “New” science is anything one wants it to be or mean in today’s world. Science doesn’t even need a purpose. A continual never ending study. A curiosity. To either kill the cat or nurture it into a predatory state.

    Quadrennial Fire Review

The QFR is not reviewed or approved by any government entity.

Social networking will become the most effective means of informing and educating the public about FIRE, as traditional media and informational techniques continue to decline in popularity.

It was called the fire community’s “CRYSTAL BALL,” by Tom Harbour, Director of Fire and Aviation Management for the USDA Forest Service.[1]

The International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) Donald K. Artley, Contractor  August, 2009 Address by Tom Harbour before the International Association of Fire Chiefs Conference, March 26, 2009 Written by Don Artley, January 2009, in IAFC newsletter, article titled, “Quadrennial Fire Review.”

    —————————————————————————————-

The 2009 Quadrennial Fire Review (QFR) is a publication that examines the future of wildfire in the United States and provides insight and predictions about potential changes in mission, roles and responsibilities.

It was called the fire community’s “CRYSTAL BALL,” by Tom Harbour, Director of Fire and Aviation Management for the USDA Forest Service.[1]

The QFR is not a policy or decision document, nor does it contain specific recommendations. Its purpose is to stimulate thought and discussion within the wildfire community about how the nation can best prepare for future wildfire seasons. According to the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC), the QFR “was designed as a strategic evaluative process that develops an internal assessment of capabilities of current programs and resources in comparison to future needs for fire management.” [2]

The QFR is published every four years. The first QFR was completed in 2005 and the second published in January 2009 by the National Interagency Fire Center in Boise, Idaho; and the National Advanced Fire Research Institute in Tucson, Arizona. It is modeled on the Department of Defense’s Quadrennial Defense Review.

The 2009 QFR was developed by fire experts from federal, state local and tribal organizations, plus assistance from non-governmental organizations and the research and academic communities. The overall effort was coordinated through the Brookings Institution.

The QFR is not reviewed or approved by any government entity.

It is meant to be an independent and objective document, free from political or agency influence. The QFR’s projections of future conditions extend to a 10-to-20 year time frame, while the strategies for how to prepare for those future conditions is defined in a four-to-five-year period.

The QFR looks at trends and makes forecasts about what will need to change within the fire community to deal with future challenges. Among the notable forecasts in the 2009 QFR are:

    • Climate change will produce longer fire seasons, with the potential of 10–12 million acres (40,000–49,000 km2)
    • BURNING IN THE UNITED STATES BY THE YEAR 2014.
    • Also, wildfire will affect more geographic regions than in the past, specifically the Northeast and Great Lakes areas, which generally have been considered at low-risk. Alaska‘s fire vulnerability will increase, as well, as warmer temperatures dry out vegetation.
    • The current drought cycle might last another 25 years, creating more stress on vegetation and contributing to a higher number of fires and more volatile fire behavior.
    • Growth will slow in populated areas prone to wildfire (often called the “wildland-urban interface” or WUI), but they will still be at high risk from wildfires.
    • Fire agency budgets will be strained by increasing demands, rising costs and falling government revenues.
    • The concept of “protecting all communities at all costs” should transition to “fostering self-reliance and increasing resiliency.” The education focus should shift toward more self-reliance and accountability, producing “fire-adapted communities.”
    • Social networking will become the most effective means of informing and educating the public about fire, as traditional media and informational techniques continue to decline in popularity.

The 2009 QFR also outlines an integrated fuels management plan that would help ensure that fuels treatment investments are tied more closely to land stewardship objectives. It also suggests that small-scale fuels treatments (prescribed burning, mechanical removal of brush, thinning, chemical treatments, and so forth) are not as effective as larger, landscape-scale treatments in terms of ecosystem health.

The 2005 QFR was prescient. For example, it predicted a significant increase in the number and costs of wildfires, dramatic changes in weather, accelerated WUI growth, and continued fuel build-ups. All of these forecasts proved correct.

More than 100 people participated in developing the 2009 version of the QFR. The next QFR is scheduled for publication in 2012. Electronic copies of the QFR are available at the NIFC website,[1]

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

VA Employee Charged With Falsifying Medical Records Of Numerous Veterans

AUGUSTA, GA: A 50-count indictment, unsealed today in federal court, has charged Cathedral Henderson, 50, a U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) employee and the former Chief of Fee Basis over non-VA Care at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center in Augusta, Georgia, with crimes related to his alleged falsification of the medical records of numerous VA patients. The indictment alleges that Henderson terminated unresolved consults – medical appointments that had not been scheduled or completed – by falsely stating in VA patients’ medical records that “services have been completed or patient refused services.”
United States Attorney Edward Tarver stated, “The crimes alleged in this indictment are troubling. Our VA officials and employees are entrusted with the health and welfare of some of the most honorable and vulnerable in our nation – our veterans. Patients, doctors, nurses and hospitals rely heavily upon the truth and accuracy of our permanent medical records. The intentional falsification of veterans’ medical records is a serious offense and will not be tolerated.”
Assistant Inspector General for Investigations Quentin G. Aucoin stated, “The VA Office of Inspector General (OIG) vigorously investigates allegations regarding VA employees who alter medical records with false statements in order to conceal unfulfilled consults for medical procedures. These alleged actions give the appearance that medical care was rendered or, in some cases, the appearance that veterans declined medical care. Alterations of medical records and false statements in these records needlessly expose patients to harm and also undermine the integrity of VA data relied upon by VA decision-makers, who oversee and manage operations.”
Henderson has been charged with 50 counts of making false statements. If convicted, Henderson faces a maximum sentence of 5 years in prison and a $250,000 fine on each count. An indictment is only an accusation and is not evidence of guilt. The defendant is entitled to a fair trial, during which it will be the Government’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
The case was investigated by Special Agents from the VA-OIG’s Office of Investigations, with assistance from clinical staff in the VA-OIG’s Office of Healthcare Inspections. Assistant United States Attorney Lamont Belk is prosecuting the case on behalf of the United States. Any questions should be directed to First Assistant United States Attorney James D. • Making Stone Soup

Making Stone Soup? You’ve never heard of it?

OK… Let’s start here with the historical record of STONE SOUP, it  is a 1548 folk tale some paint as a lesson in “COOPERATION” found in many parts of the world. others just leave stone soup as a pure and simple confidence trick.

The is an analogy. that  examines the 1548 “COOPERATION” of the people, by the people, and for the people vs. the pitfalls of the FEDERAL 2015 COORDINATION PROCESS, OF  POLITICALLY appointed  government  agencies, federal, state, tribal, and  local and their employees.

Reasoning by “ANALOGY”  plays a role in strategic decision making that is LARGE  but largely overlooked.

It  should inspire People to stop and think about the Politics in the  Federal “COORDINATION” process in America today.

    ———————————————————————

Making Stone Soup 1548 (a folk tale)

Soup of the people, for the people , by the people

Based on COOPERATION by people in a time of need.

Once upon a time, somewhere in post-war Eastern Europe, there was a great famine in which village people jealously hoarded whatever food they had

It was a long time ago, after  a war between two kingdoms.  When the war was over, the surviving soldiers were all sent home.

The soldiers had been given meagre  rations, and many ran out of food on their way home and had to resort to hunting in the woods or begging, and many died of hunger before making it home.

Now it came to pass, that a group of three hungry soldiers were heading home to the same town, and they had run out of food, when they came upon a village.

They knocked at every door in the village, but at every one they were told that there was no food. Indeed it was  a time of  great famine and the village people jealously hoarded whatever food they had

With no other option, they went to the inn.

“Innkeeper,” said the first soldier, “we have no food and have been walking for days.”

“If you have money,” said the innkeeper, “then I have plenty of food for you.”

“Good sir,” said the second soldier, “our army was defeated, and our wages taken as spoils of war, so we have no money.”

“In that case,” replied the innkeeper, “I can be of no help to you.”

“But perhaps you still can,” said the third soldier, “If you cannot offer us food, perhaps you would be so kind as to let us use one of your cauldrons today.”

The innkeeper was perplexed.  If they had no food, why would they want a cauldron?  But he had a cauldron that he would not need that day, so he saw no reason to object.   “Alright,” he said, and led them to the store where his spare cauldron was.

The three soldiers carried the cauldron out into the village square and began building a fire underneath it.  The innkeeper, still perplexed, looked on as the soldiers drew water from the well to fill the cauldron.  “What are you doing?” he asked.

“Ah,” said the first soldier, “we are making stone soup.”

“Stone soup!” cried the innkeeper, “why I have never heard such nonsense.  You cannot make soup from a stone!”

The soldier smiled, but said nothing. He took a small bag from his backpack, and opened it.  Inside were several stones.  He took each one in turn, examined it closely, and sniffed it.  Eventually he chose three and dropped them in the pot.  “Ah,” he said, “these will make a good soup.”

The innkeeper was stunned, and went back to his inn.

Shortly afterwards, another villager appeared. “What are you doing?” he asked.

“Ah,” said the second soldier, “we are making stone soup.”

“Stone soup!” cried the villager, “why I have never heard such nonsense.  You cannot make soup from a stone!”

“Ah no,” said the soldier, “that is where you are wrong.” He took a spoonful of the soup and tasted it.  “Yes, it’s coming along quite nicely now.”

The villager was intrigued, and wanted to try the soup, but he didn’t say anything.

“But there’s something missing,” the soldier continued, “maybe a little salt and pepper.”

The villager jumped in at this point.  “I have some salt and pepper at home.  I’ll give you some in exchange for a bowl of your soup.”

The soldiers looked at each other for a while, then eventually agreed.  The villager ran off to fetch the salt and pepper, and the soldiers added it to the pot.

Another villager arrived. “What are they doing?” he asked the first villager.

“Ah,” said the other, “they are making stone soup.”

“Stone soup!  Why I have never heard such nonsense.  You cannot make soup from a stone!”

“Ah, well,” said the first, “I’ll tell you when I’ve tried it.  I swapped a little bit of salt and pepper for a whole bowl!”

One of the soldiers took a spoonful of the soup and tasted it.  “It’s coming along quite nicely now.  But there’s something missing,” the soldier said, “maybe a bit of carrot.”

The second villager jumped in at this point.  “I have some carrots at home.  I’ll give you some in exchange for a bowl of your soup.”

The soldiers looked at each other for a while, then eventually agreed.  The villager ran off to fetch the carrots, and the soldiers added them to the pot.

One by one more villagers arrived, and one by one they swapped something in exchange for a bowl of the miraculous stone soup: potatoes, barley, cabbage, celery, turnips, beans….  As the ingredients were added, the smell of the soup got better and better, until all the villagers wanted to try it, and swapped something for a bowl.  But eventually the cauldron was full, but only half of the villagers had given anything.

“Ah,” said the first soldier, “it is ready.  But you know what?  I always like a bit of cheese in my stone soup.”

“You’re right,” said the second soldier, “it is ready.  But you know what?  I always like a bit of salami in my stone soup.”

“You’re both right,” said the third soldier, “it is ready.  But you know what?  I always like a bit of bread to soak up every last little bit of my stone soup.”

Hearing this, the remaining villagers ran home, each returning with a lump of cheese, a salami or a loaf of bread to exchange for his own bowl of this incredible stone soup.

In the end, everyone in the village — including the soldiers — got a bowl of stone soup, with a lump of cheese and a slice of salami in it, and with a hunk of bread to soak up every last bit, and no-one was hungry.

Making Stone Soup of the people, for the people , by the people…

A community effort of PEOPLE, coming together, in a time of great hardship and need.

The last to arrive was a fisherman,  he said, “I had nothing to give in exchange for bowls of soup for my hungry family, so I went fishing, and by the grace of God, I caught this fish, please put it into the pot”

    7. In the end, everyone, all of the people in the village — including the soldiers, the mayor and the city council,  — got a bowl of stone soup, with a lump of cheese and a slice of salami in it, and with a hunk of bread to soak up every last bit, and no-one was hungry.

Hmmm.. Stone Soup of the people, for the people , by the people…

     IN SEVEN EASY STEPS

Reasoning by “ANALOGY”  plays a role in strategic decision making that is LARGE  but largely overlooked.

THIS ANALOGY should inspire OUR ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES TO  stop and think about the RESULTS OF THEIR Government coordination process in AMERICA  today.

     ———————————————————————————

THE LONG FORM OF 2015 GOVERNMENT COORDINATION  POLICY

    Making Stone soup

Based on the know pitfalls of the POLITICO  government to government coordination plan

Indeed, Too many government cooks can spoil the broth  in 2015, especially when about  half of them are vegetarians’  and the broth is made from beef, pork  or chicken.

Under The bipartisan Healthy Sustainable Food Act

In 2015  THE MAKING OF THE STONE SOUP must be coordinated by  an appointed  Soup committee of government  agencies, federal, state, tribal, and  local and their employees. As it requires  federally mandated access to healthy local foods, the appointed politico Soup Coordination Committee must  approve the Soup Making events and the  ingredients, as required by the best  available science on Healthy food.

“What are they doing?” asks the first out of town, appointed Soup Commissioner Clueless.

“Ah,” said a person from the Local Soup Kitchen, “We  are making stone soup for hungry people.”

Commissioner Clueless  responds with “Stone soup!  Why I have never heard such nonsense.  You cannot make soup from a stone!”

The mayor exclaims, ” Close it down, it is illegal, the local people  did not get a permit for this event.”

The director of the Local Soup Kitchen immediately applies for a emergency permit for the event. He is advised that it will take 90-120 days.  The EPA requires an environmental impact statement and the local health dept needs time to review the Soup Kitchen’s health violations prior to issuing a permit.

    Making Stone Soup in 2015

    THE  COMPROMISE  of  GOVERNMENT COORDINATION

    1. People bring wood and start a Bonfire in the town square

    Problem?

    a. Where did you get that wood? It’s illegal to cut firewood in designated wild forests.

    b. Put out that bonfire,  the President signed an executive order on carbon emission, I’m calling Ecology and the EPA, I’m going to report you, there is air quality burn ban in effect,  There is a smog alert in effect, you are contaminating the atmosphere ,We don’t even allow cigarette smoking here,  you’ll start a wildfire, I am allergic to smoke.

    COORDINATION COMPROMISE

The wood cutter is arrested, the bonfire  is put out. Does anyone have a propane stove?

    2. A huge caldron is provided by the local  innkeeper and placed over the propane stove

    3. The town is in a drought emergency and there is no public water supply. A bucket brigade fills the caldron with water from a nearby stream

    Problem?

    a. You can’t take water from that stream, that water is for the fish, put it back, I calling WDFW enforcement and the tribes and they will arrest  you.

    b. Is that pure filtered water? Does it have chlorine or fluoride in it?

    COORDINATION COMPROMISE

All of the water is carried back and poured in the stream, pure filtered water must be used or no water at all. The national guard is called and a helicopter arrives with bottled, pure filtered water.

The huge caldron provided by the local  innkeeper is filled with pure filtered water and placed over the propane stove.

    —————————————————————–

    4. The soldier gets out his soup starter stones to throw in the  caldron.

    Problem?

I’m from the State Health Dept., don’t you dare put those filthy rocks in the soup, that’s disgusting,   who knows where those stones have been, they could cause a pandemic. Show me your food handlers permit.

    COORDINATION COMPROMISE

No stones are permitted  in the stone soup.

Hmmm.. so much for the STONE soup.

We’ll just call it “soup de jour”

So far, hours have passed and the hungry people have made it to this point … a cauldron full of water over a propane stove, food handlers permit of all participants have been verified and the local soup kitchen has been reluctantly allowed to continue  because they have a pending emergency permit .

Yep, that’s how it works for PEOPLE  in 2015 , using the government COORDINATION process.

    ——————————————————————

    5. The local People bring contributions in exchange for a bowl of soup.

THIS IS WHERE THE SOUP HITS THE PROVERBIAL FAN

The best  available science for the Healthy Soup Making ingredients.

    Problems? Problems? Problems?

From the “SOUP TO NUTS” is an American English idiom conveying the meaning of “FROM BEGINNING TO END”.

The partisan political agenda that over rules the people’s solution

Was it grown without hormones, without antibiotics and under PETA humane conditions?

    e. VEGETABLES are a problem? carrots onion, barley, cabbage, celery, turnips, beans, okra, peas and several large bunches of BROCCOLI.

Don’t try to pull a fast one on us. This committee watched the GMO movie 85% of the food we eat daily contains…    GMO’s  are present in 85% of processed foods in America. I will not eat genetically modified anything. Are those vegetables ORGANICALLY grown?  Show me the ORGANIC labeling. BROCCOLI, Are you an idiot, everybody hates broccoli, it is the most despised vegetable know to man.

     f. CRAWDADS and PEANUTS are a problem?… For God sake are you trying to kill somebody? This is a public health issues We must prohibit fish and seafood, as they  can cause severe allergic reactions, some people are allergic to peanuts, tree nuts, fish and shellfish.

     i. ONE SINGLE FISH  is a big problem? This fish is an endangered salmon. It’s fins have not been cut, this is illegal, arrest that man on the prima facie evidence of possession and confiscate that fish.

It’s actually a big deal,  for people, as the Federally Appointed Public Soup Committee, we must prohibit putting  illegal endangered salmon in the Public  soup…  for the protection of the public health.

    COORDINATION COMPROMISE

    7. In the end, THIS ANALOGY IS A  BIG DEAL FOR THE PEOPLE, using the FEDERAL 2015 COORDINATION PROCESS, by  appointed  government  agencies, federal, state, tribal, and  local and their employees.

The Hungry people, everyone single of them, were provided with a bowl of Healthy, Federally approved GOVERNMENT PUBLIC HOT WATER SOUP.

    ——————————————————————————————–

Reasoning by ANALOGY plays a role in strategic decision making that is LARGE but largely overlooked.

In this analogy,  Politico Government cooks with good intentions sacrificed (threw out the baby with the bathwater) in an attempt to make their Soup healthier for the public.

Throw out the baby with the bathwater is an idiomatic expression and a concept used to suggest an avoidable error in which something good is eliminated when trying to get rid of something bad, or in other words, rejecting the essential along with the inessential.

If you understand this analogy no explanation is necessary

If you don’t understand this analogy no explanation is possible.
